A3 – EMR Adoption Management System

Hi Riea. I like the PowToon app as it is always visually appealing and colourful. Your slides moved a bit quickly for me to read all of the content and process it and I found the background music to be too slow and relaxed. I would suggest a more catchy tune to really grabbed viewers. I found your slides to be well laid out and had good flow. As for your Venture Pitch, you clearly put a lot of effort into this assignment and researched to ensure you had all information. My suggestion would be to present all your findings in a better way. The PDF was long and it would have been nice to have some voice over or even just transferred that data into a slideshow or Prezi. I just found the presentation made the content a bit flat for me. As for your actual product, I think you have a great business plan and idea and I also feel like you did a good job with what information to chose to include. I also found this assignment to be challenging and frustrating at times. You've done a excellent job though :)

Review: Hi Riea, Great work on your venture pitch! Some people have already noted the timing of the elevator pitch - it was a great format though! In your venture pitch, I really liked that you included an overview of this venture - that provided me with a concise overview of your project - this could have even been placed at the beginning of your venture pitch to provide investors/readers with a basic overview of your venture and proposal. I also enjoyed reading your reflection (you shouldn't be so hard on yourself - this is a fantastic idea and would really benefit the medial world!) If I were a potential investor, I would definitely consider investing in your idea. Thanks for sharing :)

REVIEW: Hi Riea. Others have already noted the issues with timing (which can be difficult with Powtoon) and the use of 'simplier', but if those mistakes were corrected I think your elevator pitch is sound. I really liked the look and feel of your venture pitch; it conveyed professionalism and looked to me like it was designed for a professional medical audience. Although this isn't an 'academic' assignment, I can see how there is a definite need for technical/sourced writing with this product, and I thought it added credibility to your pitch. In addition, I don't actually think your product as an unrealistic as you think; with a lot of VC projects, the investors and management team work out the kinks and fill in the gaps as they go along. RECOMMENDATION: I wouldn't invest in your product, but that wouldn't be through any fault related to your pitches; rather, it is because I know nothing about the field of medicine and wouldn't be able to provide anything to help grow your business.

FEEDBACK: I appreciate your candid comments in your reflection. I share some of your sentiments. Two things that jumped out at me. I thought your Overview table is excellent because it is very clear. In the section that immediately follows, "How will this help EMR adoption succeed," you presents the barriers and how to overcome them very well. My suggestion for improvement is for more rigorous proofreading. I'm a stickler for good grammar and spelling and cannot help noticing these examples: The top Canadian (EMR) vendors are as follows (not is as follows), HealthED was founded by me, Riea Elder in 2012 when I discovered (not when she discovered) and so on. Sorry for nit-picking ...

Thanks @kgill, keeping the pitch under 1 min is tough! You're right, I should have caught the typo. Thank you and I don't think it's harsh. Also, the acronym...ahhh should have caught that one, too! @danielle, the intent was for anyone implementing the electronic medical records or anyone helping with the implementation would be able to access progress at home. A patient portal? Great idea! That wasn't in my scope but certainly something to think about. As far as costs, it really depends on the vendor the client chooses. @Kendra Grant, it was tricky trying to get everything I wanted under 1 min and obviously the pitch suffered due to me cramming everything in. Thanks for the suggestion to flip things around.@Jonathan Lai, yes, single sign in and in one location is essentially the same thing. Definitely this would be something that could go to the US market and many of the vendors that I know and have worked with are more US focused.@ekitchen, thanks! I sort of got on a roll and then couldn't stop so maybe that's why there was too much info! @helder, thank you for pointing out the mistakes! I didn't do due diligence obviously :) @kburden slow and steady - got it!

Feedback: I thought this was a very interesting idea and I like the video. It looked professional and modern. I had a little bit of trouble reading everything that was on the screen. I would have liked to have a bit more time for reading especially the pages with a lot of content. Based on the elevator pitch, I wanted to know a little bit more about the product itself. Who is able to access at home? Is it just the doctor or can the patients access medical records too? I wondered how much it costs. Still, very practical and professional looking.

Feedback: This was a well done pitch with all the components I needed as an EVA. My suggestions have more to do with order and lengthening you pitch a bit. My suggestion would be to start with the problem/solution as you asked for investment before I really knew what you were selling. I love using PowToons. It is a bit tricky to use to get the timing right. I couldn’t read everything on your page because the page turned over and on the last slide I wasn’t able to read as it was only on the screen a couple seconds. I actually went over in my pitch but I think lengthening your timings and starting with the problem/solution would make this a solid pitch. I really liked the problem presented through the doctor’s eyes - almost like a mini-case study. This got me thinking about what your product will do and to learn more. Well done!

FEEDBACK - Your pitch was solid and conveyed most of the information I needed to know. I would have moved the “Investment Opportunity” slide after explaining what an HealthED is. (Personally, I like to know about a product before being presented with the opportunity of investing in it.) I know this product has a lot of potential, and makes it easier for medical professionals. I think it could easily be expanded into the US market (or at least in collaboration with other medical companies in the US) where there is an even bigger business opportunity in healthcare. One thing I was confuse about is the “single sign login...once a day” vs “single sign in location” are they the same thing? Being able to sign-in in for multiple applications would make sense.

REVIEW: Hi Riea! I really enjoyed the elevator pitch, I found it very informative in terms of identifying the scope of your venture, addressing gaps that currently exist and then selling me on the idea. I do feel like it was a bit more information then an attempt to recruit investors, but I did find it very appealing and timely. What made your venture pitch so great, was I could tell you derived your project from your experience and I can see that with the in depth context you provide for applying your business solution. I think you really hit home with the audience when you used an example (ie. Dr. Smith), it made your pitch personal. Great job!

Thanks for an interesting venture. It was easy to see that you put a lot of research into your venture. I agree with kgill and KBurden about the elevator pitch and the information going by too quickly. I used PowToons too and I found it great to work with but extremely time consuming. I didn't mind pausing and reading what I missed because even without bits of writing I understood the concept and why it is important. I think you are too hard on yourself in your reflection. The concept seemed interesting to me and you presented it in an engaging way. On first glance I thought your venture pitch was quite long but your writing is engaging and well organized. There are a few grammatical and spelling errors, not many. The one I picked up on is when you talked about yourself as part of the team. Choose first person or third but don't go back and forth. Minor, but as a teacher I can't help but edit writing as I read it. Very professional venture, I enjoyed reading and watching it! Heather
