Venture Pitch: EduJourney

FEEDBACK: Nice work Kuljinder. Your pitch video was engaging and communicated clearly your concept. You used the chosen medium well and the venture would be really cool in the classroom to increase the amount of virtual field trips. I easily could see this being used all of the time in subjects like biology, science etc. It would be plain awesome to be immersed in biology on the level of a cell using a VR device such as this! Very cool. The only exceptionally small suggestion I'd make to make this a tiny bit stronger, is that I would have liked to see a bit firmer approach on the statement of the problem/painpoint rather than posing questions. Questions really speak in a relateable way to teachers, but as a VC, making these questions into statements would help lend a slightly more authoritative sense of your expertise. It's a very minute tweak. Your communication of how the concept could save money did however speak directly to my interest as a VC making the painpoint/solution pique my interest as an investor. The roadmap was a fantastic inclusion to show your motivation and push. Also from a design sense, showing consideration of all stakeholders (student/teacher/district) made this concept feel very well rounded. :)

Review: Your elevator pitch was short and to the point, which leads to a definite interest in your idea. I love that it is a virtual Magic School Bus type of field trip and I think that students would enjoy this type of activity to augment the classroom curriculum. I am a little surprised at the cost and wonder how many schools would pay for it, especially as the cost of actual field trips are usually borne by the parents, not the school. I think you would need to find a way to make this much more affordable for the average school. The upside is that it would be able to be used repeatedly by new students entering that grade, so it would eventually pay for itself. I think you would need an aggressive marketing scheme in order to really sell it to the schools. Intriguing idea though.

REVIEW: Hi Kuljinder. Your elevator pitch was interesting and got me interested in your idea, and I think there is massive potential for game-based / VR learning. I think your idea needs a bit more fleshing out in terms of how you are going to get your product integrated into school systems, but I am excited due to the potential I feel in this area. RECOMMENDATION: I would invest in your company.

Review: Hi Kuljinder, This is a neat idea, it immediately reminded me of a real life production/creation of the magic school bus. I like the idea of a virtual realm to give students the idea of actually being there. Your product is more comprehensive and enjoyable than simply watching a video or documentary. As an investor I would be a bit apprehensive as to how many schools would pay $4000 for 30 headsets and one game. I suppose though this would be able to be shared amongst multiple classrooms. I like that you're in a market of your own, but also view this as a high risk investment due to the uncharted waters in the educational field. I do appreciate your imagination in this product, and really appreciate how you've brought something to life that has a great amount of detail and specifics.

Feedback: I'm a big fan of game-based learning and I like the idea of basing games around field-trips. In terms of investment, I would need some more information about the experience and why expensive virtual reality technology would be marketable when rich multimedia is available online. I understand that your system would be game-based, unique, and designed for education, but I think your competition is free low-tech resources that educators my feel are good enough, and much more affordable. Both your pitches are well constructed and your product has a lot of potential. You are tackling a worthy cause and attempting to enhance the students media experience, offering free trials may be a good way to prove to users and consumers that the experience you're offering is well worth it.

FEEDBACK: Virtual Reality in the educational settings would be an area that business ventures are still exploring, and your point is excellent. I am not sure how actually your products are integrated in the curriculums, and this will be the area that you can improve on. The screenshots gave me the clear image of your products, but on the elevator pitch, it was not really clear if the VR is provided in the game devices or other platforms.

Feedback: Hi Kgill! I really enjoyed your both of your pitches and I really have to say I love your idea and that you thought outside the box. Thinking outside the box is what pushes development and the imagination is the best instrument in that. Well done. I also think that we will soon see products like this in the years to come. Exploration of concepts with virtual experience will enrich our lives and this product speaks to the heart of that. One thing that I would like to see a bit different in your presentation would be hearing your voice in the elevator pitch. I find that so much emotion that goes along with a person’s passion is found in the description of the voice. I also loved how you talked about where the product was made and the global target that you are hoping to reach with more investment. Well done! Chad :)

FEEDBACK: Overall I did enjoy the presentation and design of our pitch, you are very articulate and concise. But ultimately I was not entirely convinced that incorporating video games into a virtual field trip would be an idea that administrators or educators would buy into as consumers.

FEEDBACK: Hi Kuljinder, You started your elevator pitch with a very good hook – “teaching students not as easy as it used to be?”, and I liked how you provided a brief history of the company. I wasn’t very clear as to what exactly is EduJouney, and it would probably be a good idea if you could explain further what EduJourney does.
