Hi everyone I just registered in the course yesterday and am thrilled to be a member of this community of learners. My name is Julie and as you can see me in the picture that flying is a part of my life. I currently serve as an Education Technology Consultant in which I provide leadership on all aspects of teacher training and school team support. I am responsible for planning, reporting, staff resource development and working closing with academic and support units on their teaching and teaching with technology needs. As part of my job responsibilities I consult with provincial school districts that often requires some air travel.
I live in Vancouver BC but have also lived and worked oversees. I enjoy working with technology and designing online learning environments that enable participants to explore greater possibilities for increased social presence. I have been a professional educator since 2002; elementary as well as high school classroom experience. My professional teaching experience encompasses both online and f2f instruction. As I continue towards my Masters degree (ETEC 522 is my 7th course) I aim to focus my learning towards VR and AR immersive learning environments.
My scholarly and research interests include: online learning, instructional design, blended learning, mobile learning, web design, social networking, educational technology, instructional media, faculty development, and distance learning Administration.
Aside from my professional work in educational technology, I love composing music and spending time in nature. In the summer I enjoy RVing and during the winter you may find me on the slopes skiing. Another interest of mine is an appreciation for beautiful wildlife photography; especially when the piece illustrates emotional expression between sentient beings.
