Hello Everyone,
My name is Caleb and I’m currently working as a grade 5 homeroom teacher in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. It is only my second full year as a teacher, so I am fairly new to the profession. This is also only my second course in the MET program. Having only completed ETEC 500, I’m well ready to get into some of the more tech-focused courses.
Besides teaching, a few other recent themes in my life seem to be travel and sports. This last summer I was fortunate to be able to spend a couple of weeks experiencing South East Asia. Between eating copious amounts of mangoes and riding in speed boats on the Mekong River…it was a pretty awesome time. When it comes to sports I will play pretty much anything. At the moment I’m coaching junior high volleyball and playing flag football. Unfortunately, like all good things summer will come to an end and I’ll keep busy playing a mix of volleyball and floor hockey.
I didn’t have any particular goals in mind when signing up for this course. It looked like a great course, so I clicked ‘enroll.’ I am person who likes to ‘think’ (some might say daydream) about new teaching-tech ideas and think about whether their implementation could be successful beyond my classroom. I am hoping this course can help me ask (and answer) better questions about technology in the classroom with the goal of improving classroom instruction for myself and others.
Looking forward to collaborating with everyone!
Caleb
