Disruptive Trends in The Education Industry
Overview by Jon Cropper, Futurlogic.
I reviewed this rich source and I found it worthy. I liked the titles they gave to each category and I found it creative. They called MOOC’s teachers “Rock star teachers.
They covered in the review eight topics:
- The rise of Rockstar teachers: MOOCs are disruptive trends in the eduction industry markets. It’s about how people all around the world can get an access to the high quality education, and learn from Harvard and other high institutions’ professors. Such trend is developing new industry not only an educational tool. Several educators, developers, managers are working in MOOCs, but the question is: Is it really going to raise up the educational level in whole world? From a personal experience, I registered in two courses in different fields but I didn’t make the same effort I do in my MET class, because they didn’t have deadlines, penalties, also they are for free. So if students didn’t have a big desire in learning, they won’t get the proposed benefits.
- 10 Week Software Developer Bootcamps are Launching at a Furious Pace. This trend is really valuable. It connects students from different ages with the real society needs. Also it provides them with a respectable income and this point is very important these days. I watched the App Academy and I liked the idea of intensive learning and training because we are living in a changeable world. So mastering the market required skills in a short time is very valuable and beneficial for young youth (around 80 thousand $ in a year!).
- Online Education is Rapidly Gaining Credibility: I didn’t find this point disruptive like its previous points. Credible Online learning is not new, and its high spreading speed, in different majors, is the remarkable.
- Explosive Growth in Documentary Film Production is Fueling the Educational Content Ecosystem: This point is new and unique in this study and it’s very valuable in many subjects, like history, physics, science, etc.
- Branded schools: I feel that it is like “upgrading” to the institutional certificates, but it brings professional in specific areas that are maybe not covered in the high education systems. Like the Creative Academy and
Fabrica: Benetton’s Communication Research Center. Our society needs applicable creative ideas than ever before.
- Education Entrepreneurs are Rapidly Disrupting the Industry Globally
- Subscription Boxes Represent the Return of Correspondence Education
- Virtual Internships are Gaining Credibility
- The Future is Present: AI Tutors: it’s really an awesome idea to use AI in tutoring youth students. I watched a sample video they provided in the site: https://youtu.be/vqdgJ88wOws . It is really a very futuristic idea and it will have a great future. It vary from simple avatars to a very futuristic avatar (living avatar!)
