Social media and online software are infiltrating classroom learning. With an increased number of students using handheld devices, online means of communication are becoming pivotal in creating a connection between students and learning. Niemer (2012) found that 51% of teenagers who own handheld devices use them as their primary form of communication. Providing students opportunities to interact through their preferred medium of communication is critical in the development of through and meaning making. With limited online platforms that meet the needs of curricular guidelines along with the privacy regulations for students, Edmodo is at the forefront of current educational software.
For this assignment I have chosen to examine Edmodo as an educational platform.
