So what IS a Chromebook? Is it a notebook? Is it a tablet? Is it a netbook? I thought netbooks went out of style about 6-7 years ago. If you remember, a “netbook” was a light-weight computer that is primarily used to browse the internet. That is exactly what a Chromebooks is today. The difference is of course, the internet has come a long way over the course of 6-7 years. For starters, more and more software vendors are choosing to release their software online rather than distributing copies of it. First of all, its hard to steal / pirate their software if they never give you a copy. Secondly, they don’t have to worry about making and updating one version for Windows and one for Mac when all you need is a browser to access their software. Thirdly, they only have to support one version of software in that they don’t have the problem of one person using the same version of software for 10 years and expecting the company to support them.
