Decided to do a write up on FOODSAFE.ca, which as it turns out is a BC based initiative. It is the joint collaboration effort between various sectors: government, business, health, safety, and education. The reason I chose FOODSAFE, was because I see an increasing number of high school students today having jobs relating to the food and beverage industry and many of them are truly unaware of the potential dangers in their working environment. After reviewing the site, it seems as if FOODSAFE is a well established organization that accredits individuals with either Level 1 or Level 2 certification through three methods / channels.
Channels of Delivery
- Face to Face Courses at various locations across BC: Health Authorities, secondary schools, college and institutes, and community centres
- Virtual School- Open BC – Online Curriculum
- Correspondence – Go2Hr – No online or face to face required.
It is very apparent that FOODSAFE or FOODSAFE.ca, is trying to use online technology / learning to better help it deliver vocational heath and safety training to workers. Their site seems to be a hub for ordering resources, finding locations for training, contacting instructors, and directing people to online courses.
