As I read through the results, I noticed that our peers had not reviewed as many K-3 applications for personalized writing needs. I wonder if this was due to the lack of “good” or useful applications at this age range or that our peers are not necessarily interested in these applications as they may not apply to the age range they teach. There were few apps that provided assessment and evaluated progress. I feel this might be due to the fact that educational technology is still in its infancy. The research I have done for game based learning suggests that people are just beginning to use technology for assessment and evaluation. These types of things will take time and a great deal of collaboration between the education system, software developers and designers. As such, this area has excellent entrepreneurial value for the near future.
