Week 9- Gaps and Opportunities Activity 3

By roma kohutiak on November 8, 2015

I have taught for many years and always found that writing is a daunting task and I personally don’t think one piece of technology can be used.  Why you ask.  I find that the English language is very difficult to learn.  It is one of the only languages that you don’t spell the words like you hear them.  I had one full class of grammar and spelling alongside english when I was growing up.  There were no computers, so there was no in-house competition for the subject.  We had a 2 whole classes dedicated to learning English and if that wasn’t enough, your parents can sign you up for Latin.  Going back to technology, there has to be some concise methodology within a technology to learn the quarks of the english language.  Maybe an audio sounding out the word, showing possible writing options, and have the student write over them, so they kill 2 birds with one stone.  Since many students write phonetically, give them the audio and show the rules, then ask them to write the solution.
