Like my peers, I do see an opportunity for assessment, but after reviewing the apps I think that there is another are that is underserved. I quickly scanned the list of apps and noticed there was really only one or two that help with the creative side of writing. I realize that mechanics and structure are important, but there is a tremendous opportunity to tap into and develop a learning community around creative writing exercises. This could work across all levels from the younger grades through to professionals, and even incorporate those who are learning a language. Feedback is an important part of the learning process and using the internet feedback can be received anonymously. If managed properly, either through teacher mediation or through user moderation this could be a positive way for users to expand their creative writing capabilities.
