Hello from North Vancouver

By Martina on May 11, 2016

Hello.  My name is Martina Seo.  I’m a home economics teacher in West Vancouver School District.  I have been teaching since 2009.  This is my 5th course in MET.  I have a wonderful little dog named Beamer and I live in North Vancouver.  I enjoy incorporating technology in the my Foods Classroom.  The reason I am enrolled in ETEC 511 is because I’m interested in “global learning technologies marketplace” and learning how to “pitch myself”.

Here is a broccoli song I came up with in my classroom while playing the guitar for my students:)

Hi Martina. It is nice to see a familiar face. Nice job on the song. You are certainly more musically inclined than I am. I cannot sing nor play the guitar. But, I have to say that I would love to learn how to play the guitar so that I can include a bit more music into my classroom. My musical talents include mainly 4 years of band in middle school (I was a trumpet player!). Perhaps Cole and myself can start a new 'brass section' for the class! I look forward to working with you again this semester.

Hello Martina, That was a fun video to introduce yourself with. I am a musically trained teacher but I teach social studies now in Surrey. However I am always looking for new ideas and ways to include music into my classes but I have never thought about pulling out my guitar and singing to the class. But that might be because my main instrument is the bass trombone.

Hi Martina, I loved your broccoli song! As a musician and music teacher myself - I always look for opportunities to incorporate music with other subjects. Wish I had a home ec teacher like you! I look forward to learning more from you,

Dear Martina, Your video was so much fun, I had to follow the path back to your channel. I loved the video of your cooking demonstration! How great is that? You also have learners tape you to record the lesson? I once brought my students to the school kitchen to make something (can't even remember what) but I was integrating it with the novel we were studying. Anyway, I have never been so stressed out in my life. My colleague, who was the home economics teacher, came in and out to help me, but juggling safety, ingredients, cooking and clean up! Hands down you have my admiration! Looking forward to working with your energy! Briar
