Thank you for all the great introductions. I look forward to working with such a diverse group and hope I can add something positive and constructive to the mix.
My name is Stephen Walsh. I currently live in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I am a substitute primary/elementary teacher by day and an unabashed dreamer by night. I got into education for all the right reasons but see an industry that is ripe for a revolution. I hope that “Ventures” can help us explore the possibilities that exist outside the public system.
This is my 6th course in the program and I am excited to engage with this new format. I have tried my hand at a blog and would be thrilled if you checked it out and head-over-heels if you pointed me toward some new content. I am inspired and humbled by the wealth of creativity and productivity that exists in the blogospere. I know that the MET program was a good choice when I come home from a day at school where it felt like pulling teeth to get the students to “read and write” and here some eight year old has blogged about the insects he found in the woods behind his house…IN HIS SPARE TIME! Motivation is a subject of great interest to me as well.
On a personal level I love to read, I play guitar and am trying to pick up piano, I follow a few podcasts (Hardcore History being my favorite), I like the outdoors and field trips thereabouts, and I try my best not to be the last to post.
Thanks for reading and let’s chat real soon.
