Hello from Toronto!

By stephanie mcginnis on May 15, 2017

Hi fellow ETEC 522ers!

My name is Stephanie and this is my 6th MET class. I am super excited for this course. I remember when I first applied to the MET program, this course is the one that really caught my eye and that I was excited to take so I am definitely looking forward to this semester.

I have a varied background. I currently work as a corporate trainer in the financial industry in downtown Toronto. I’ve worked in training in this industry for a total of about three years and I am interested in finding strategies and technologies to keep busy professionals engaged and motivated to fit learning into their busy schedules. I also have quite a bit of experience in a high school classroom. I taught in Asia for four years – two years in Korea teaching English and two years in China teaching business. I loved teaching high school and I often wonder if I should go back but for now I’m sticking it out in the financial industry to see how things go. Both industries definitely have their pros and cons!

On a personal note, I live in Toronto near High Park. My fiancé and I bought a house here last year and we recently added an adorable Golden Doodle, Simba, to our family. We’re getting married in October so this summer should be pretty busy with wedding planning and this course! We are also planning our honeymoon for October. We’re going to spend a couple of days in Whistler and Vancouver before flying to Hawaii – I cannot wait!

Anyways, I look forward to working with all of you!

Stephanie
