Hello!

By charkirk on May 17, 2017

Hello!  I am thrilled to be a part of this course!  I am currently taking three classes and will have one last one to take in September to finish up. I’m very excited to be done, but I have learned so much through these courses!

I taught high school for a number of years in Vernon, BC in a variety of positions including English, counselling, behaviour support and Learning Assistance.  About 7 years ago, I found myself incredibly burnt out and took some time off to reflect on things.  I ended up in Saskatoon where I took a Teaching English as a Second Language course, and got a job working for a non-profit settlement agency teaching English to adults.  To say I loved it, would be an understatement!  I moved to Vancouver, BC last September and am immersing myself fully in the MET coursework.  I’m excited to get back into education, although I’m not quite sure in what capacity that will be – I’m applying for a number of jobs now for September!

I’m really interested in this class.  I like thinking and challenging myself about different ways to approach education.  I also feel like I always have ideas about things, but I never seem to be able to execute them…this is especially true for me when it comes to teaching ESL.

Looking forward to working with you all this semester 🙂
