Daniel Hedlund Creates A Global Knowledge Marketplace

By Ryan Dorey on June 8, 2017

Daniel Hedlund COO and Co-Founder of Zeqr

Daniel Hedlund is a graduate of the London Business School, 2006, and along with his brother Johan, has created a number of tech start-ups that have successfully grown and been sold off for great profits. The brothers are serial entrepreneurs who have been involved in many start-ups. After they started Ipeer back in 2006 as a cloud-based data storage company, they found that they were constantly searching for freelance consultants and struggling, at times, to find the specific skill-sets they needed to accomplish tasks effectively. This is what got the two brothers interested in their newest venture. When Ipeer was bought out in 2014, it gave Daniel and Johan the perfect opportunity to start fresh on Zeqr.
Daniel Hedlund created Zeqr, because he believes that the world is a classroom and learning should be a lifelong passion. Sound familiar? It is what every good teacher reminds their students as they step out into the great wide open on the last day of school before the summer holidays. Teaching the world’s learners is what Zeqr proposes to do by creating a global exchange of information that can be one-on-one, or a million to one. This is their value proposition. Lessons can be delivered live and in-person or by videos, audios and other online learning systems. As a opposed to focussing on storing content, Zeqr is more of a relationship building system that allows freelancers to hawk their talents to businesses that are looking for specialized skills. Learning takes place where and when you need it so a person can ‘binge learn’ if they need to cram or tackle a topic over an extended period if that is how they learn best.
A highly successful set of “Xperts” is what is turning heads. Zeqr has attracted attention by touting the top experts in fields like web design, marketing strategy, mobile development and social media. Guy Kawasaki, world class entrepreneur and speaker extrordinaire, helped the Hedlund brothers during the launch of the Zeqr website by donating free one-on-one sessions . The range of options is not limited to star quality personnel and technologically based companies. Students in math and science offer their skills to other students on very specific subjects like factoring or working with trig identities.
I signed up for Zeqr in order to see things from the inside. I plan to test out my own online teaching skills by offering to teach high school math topics that I use daily.

These men sound very smart. Do they inspire me? I dont know. The phrase ''serial entrepreneurs'' worries me for some reason. Maybe I like the idea that people are commited projects that they create--because they believe that project has an inherent value? Maybe they do believe this . . . in fact, the course readings even suggest that most entrepreneurs are make and sell type people. But reading some of the other posts on this forum, I don't find myself that eager to emulate these two highly intelligent and create individuals.
