Tracey, as an educator I am well aware of the imbalance of genders in the STEM fields. This isn’t clearly communicated in your pitch. As others have said it was quite difficult to hear during the elevator pitch. In the venture pitch I feel like I was left with too many questions about important details like how your product would be different from what’s out there, what’s out there, marketing, and more. Without more information on these things I would be reluctant to invest.
Hi Tracey, Your passion for STEM and Girls is really inspiring. Can I suggest an audio editor? Your voice was clear, and you certainly outlined the problem with engaging girls in math. I think the venture idea itself is very interesting. Unfortunately, your Elevator and Venture pitch was missing a little bit of the “passion” you obviously have. Some more media and excitement would have “sold” the product!
Hello Tracy, STEM is my passion too and I was looking to see much more in this Venture. The Elevator did not engage me in any idea of what you are actually doing, but it did my curiosity going to see the complete project. It was a challenge for me to concentrate on your presentation, maybe because of the background noise or other factors. However, I did not see or catch the way that you are going to engage all but primarily girls int his STEM project. What you are offering, or what the app is offering was not very clear to me as an investor. So, I was asking what is the platform that these projects are based on? How are your competitors? And how does it really work in school and home? I am very excited about this Application, especially it targets girls. Good luck. G.
Hi Tracey, great vision you have there but unfortunately the overal package is poorly put together. I am not quite sure what the pain point is. While it is a fact that girls going into STEM career has been in decline in the last 30 years, your investors may not know this. You have displayed a table of the number of apps in iOS and Android which is not really showing what the market is. Perhaps you were trying to show the number of competitors? After reviewing the PPT I am still not quite sure what the connection is between the Math and Tech app and the story line of the world adventure. There needs to be a lot more work before I can consider investing in this venture.
There was a total lack of passion about a subject you are obviously passionate about. "Used by all, but great for girls"... What about your product makes it great for girls. How is it designed to specifically attract girls as opposed to boys into stem? The lists provided seem to be ideas that can attract anyone into stem, not only one gender. What is it that this product will do? Activities, games, study supplements? If I had to make a decision to invest or not, I was not impressed enough to think this would be a good place to put my money into.
Hi Tracey, I like the name and where you are going with this idea though I did have trouble getting the audio for the elevator pitch as I could only hear 12 seconds of it. You seem to have the starts of a good idea but I would encourage you to look further into the different ways to present it. PowerPoint is possible but with so much competition these days the more media-rich your pitch the better off you will be. That said, I was only able to see two slides and hear 12 seconds of the pitch so I can't dive any deeper into my critique. In terms of your venture pitch, I love the background graphic theme as it fit right in with your topic. That in mind, I was hoping for a bit more detail within your pitch to further flush out your business model: the types of market, market status, and further detail on potential buyers. It would also be nice to see some type of potential design of your product and what the future investment might bring me. It's a good start to a very good idea that might need a bit more polish before investors (myself) jump in. I know I would really like to invest but still have some unanswered questions.
Hi Tracey, I have to admit that your pitch was very difficult to get through. It's great that you were able to think of a venture that related to something you are passionate about but the presentation was very poorly executed. The PPT and audio wasn't always in sync and just lacked editing in sections. At some points you just trailed off and suddenly the slides changed and I even heard a phone go off at one point. You also just didn't sounds enthusiastic at all, which made it very difficult to stay engaged. I am still not clear about what your product does and I think you missed a critical component - you never explained what STEM was. You can't expect that everyone, especially investors, just know what that is.
Hey, I really like the idea, but I found the overall presentation slightly frustrating. It was a bit hard to get the PP to work and when I did I foud that maybe some editing could have helped your pitch a little bit more. There was one case where I heard a phone beep go off. I wish there was more information about the actual app too. Information felt slightly thin on exactly how the app works, how it differs, etc. I also wish I knew what the gap was in this area, since there seems to be a lot of work on encouraging girls to join STEM fields already. Nice Idea however.
FEEDBACK: Try to add some more energy and enthusiasm in your audio recordings; it seemed as though you were having a tough time recording! There are also frequent audible gasps and exasperated sighs, leading to a feeling of a general lack of conviction in the delivery of your pitch. From an investor’s point of view, I would be very reluctant to back a venture where the CEO is lacking passion and commitment for their project, therefore focus on delivering your ideas with vigour and positivity, as if you truly believe in the strength of your venture. Incorporating more textual information to accompany your recording will help investors digest your pitch much better; I found it difficult to review some of the finer details, as PPT does not allow ‘rewinding’ of audio to go over some of the details. Seeing as your venture is centered around the development and marketing of a mobile app, I think you really need some prototypes of your product to showcase to investors in this pitch, as well as examining the small competition you identified in further detail. If there are only a handful of competing apps in this market, I think looking at them and examining their weak points and then highlighting your apps strong points would go a long way to differentiating your ideas in the highly competitive, and hugely saturated educational app market.
