Thus begins my Graduate Degree journey! This is my first class in the MET program and I am very excited to meet you all. I have been working for 15 years in post-secondary education at Lethbridge College in the Multimedia Production program. I mainly teach classes in Graphic Design and Web & Interactive Programming. I am an alumni of the program I teach in (2001) and gained a BPA majoring in Communication Studies from Athabasca University (2013) and completed the Instructor Certification Program at Lethbridge College (2014).

The Lethbridge Coulees
Our students get to learn all sorts cutting-edge technology. They learn VR, AR, design, animation, motion graphics and a variety of web technologies. I am very fortunate to work with a supportive team who loves to explore uncharted territory in technology and theory. In my classes, I present opportunities for students to create eLearning pieces and I am looking to improve my theoretical knowledge of eLearning to support my technologist skills.

I resonated with the section of the start-up that stated that innovation in educational technologies tends to be pioneered by technologists rather than educators. I have definitely seen that trend and also think that far too few educators even know what is possible with learning technologies.
On a personal note, I am a single mother of a wonderfully bright and courageous young girl. My house is a senior citizen home for pets. I have two eleven-year-old boxers and two thirteen-year-old cats. I love to do things outdoors and get a lot of inspiration from the landscape in Lethbridge. The city spans the coulees and we have the most breathtaking sky. Because we are located on the prairies, it is common for it to be quite windy down here. I have experienced on several occasions the wind being stronger than 100km/hour.

I look forward to getting to know you and working through this course with you!
