As a BC educator, I am interested in new technologies that afford opportunities to integrate and implement the learning standards established by the province’s new curriculum. Some of the new ideas threaded throughout the curriculum standards are story, place-based learning and purposeful technology use. ARIS (Augmented Reality and Interactive Storytelling) software has the capacity to link these standards in engaging and seamless ways. While ARIS software is a product, ARIS is also a program that seeks the exploration and experimentation of mobile technologies and their capabilities and limitations. Research and implementation of research is a part of the ARIS program which invites educators, students, and researchers to invest in augmented reality to enhance learning experiences that are not possible otherwise. MET’s very own, Craig Brumwell has accomplished significant success using ARIS in his teaching context. His achievements are inspiring for all BC educators.
My analyst report on ARIS is directed to BC educators and administrators, specifically, but is valuable for educators everywhere. You will find the report here: The Brave Educator
