Hello everyone,
My name is Philip and I am an English teacher at Riverside Secondary. As an English teacher, I do enjoy reading a good novel and currently I am enjoying the “Red Rising,” series by Pierre Brown. I also love spending time with my wife and our two-year-old daughter, Amara.
Having taught for over ten years at the same school, I have seen the use of technology grow exponentially in the classroom. I have seen first hand how technology can enhance the learning environment for all the students in the classroom. However, technology has allowed me to be more of a risk taker in classroom in terms of trying out various assignments and projects that are technology based.
Personally, I am extremely interested in learning more about the various apps or web-based programs that can further the development of our student’s reading and writing skills. We often see apps that are directed at developing early reading and writing skills but not many focuses on developing the skills of older students. I am interested in seeing if my assumption is wrong by exploring the various apps and web-based programs that are on the cutting edge of addressing reading and writing skills at all levels of learning.
