Game-Based Learning

By scott on November 3, 2018

Welcome!

You’ve probably heard the term “Game-Based Learning”, along with “learning games” and “serious games”. The truth is they’re all basically the same thing, and people playing these games will either learn something, or be able to do something, after playing them.

But what does this actually look like in practice? Is anyone actually using it in professional contexts, or is it just another passing buzzword? Let’s find out.

Enter our OER here

Suggested Timeline

By Monday (November 5): Complete the Introductory Activity, read through the GBL Introduction, and answer Discussion Question 1: “How do you currently use Game-Based Learning in your professional practice?”

By Wednesday (November 7): Explore Perspectives and play the games in GBL Through the Ages.

By Friday (November 9): Respond to at least two additional discussion questions.

By Saturday (November 10): Respond to at least two posts made by other visitors.

We hope that your exploration, discussion, and playing inspires you to explore what the GBL world has to offer!

Happy gaming,

Scott & Philip
