A3: Program Ready

By molly on November 25, 2018

Hello! Are you Program Ready? Sadly, if you are an international student transitioning into a college program, the answer is probably no. Program Ready can help! This content curation app provides international students with easy access to the latest reading and listening content in their intended program of study. Program Ready fills a gap in international students’ exposure to targeted English-language resources and encourages active collaboration with peers.

Hi Molly, Your website is very easy to follow and very professional. Program Ready would be very helpful in many cities in Canada, as there are so many international students visiting Canada. I personally feel the "Collaborative Learning" option is amazing. Many international students could end up studying alone and it can be quite frustrating. One question I had as I was going through the page- there's frequent mention of Ontario students and Ontario Colleges- but Program Ready can be used for any international student transitioning into a college program in Canada? Overall, I really enjoyed it!

Great solution to a very really pain point! Molly this is a well thought out product. I can see this having a Canada wide if not global market. You could have used that as your projection for sure. I think the comparisons to other products and acknowledgement of there strengths but the uniqueness of Program Ready, only adds to its strength as an investment opportunity. I really appreciate that you put yourself out there to be in the elevator pitch it lends such confidence in the product. This market is definitely a growing market. the number or international students seeking a Canadian post secondary experience is absolutely on the rise. Although I liked the steps you included to get the product to market I think a little more information about each one would have been helpful.

Hi Molly - I thought you pitch was great. Your content was professionally done, and you had a warm, inviting tone which resonated with me as an educator. I also enjoyed how you defined the problem and the solution. One recommendation that I would have is to provide a bit more background on the market overall and how this may be a profitable investment. Overall, well done! I am also looking forward to exploring your app even more!

Hi Molly, First of all, really great job. You obviously put in a lot of thought to both your elevator pitch and venture and it was a provoking presentation. You addressed the problem in the market and the Program Ready solution to fill the gap, which is what any investor would be looking for before funding your idea. It is clearly outlined throughout your presentation who your target market is and ways in which Program Ready can support them. I would have recommended to possibly give a step by step idea in your presentation outlining how exactly one would use Program Ready, quite possibly in the form of a case study!

Great pitch, you managed to communicate clearly what product/service within time limit. I think it's a very good idea. The video and website look very professional and polished which I think is probably the most important factor in getting someone to pay attention and trust you with their investment. The venture pitch was laid out logically and had a good flow to it. I think it was a smart idea to partner with local post-secondary and sell it as a tool for them to prepare their students. One thing that I think you could have emphasized was the potential for students to create support networks that would help carry them through their studies once they are in their programs. That to me seems almost like a main feature/selling point.

Hi Molly, great ideas. I used to be an international student in Vancouver. So I understand deeply how struggle international students are when facing the academic challenges in the first a few semesters. This app is a great platform organized the valuable sources for them to prepare for the college life. Additionally, your pitches are presented very well. For the elevator pitch, you present confidently in front of the camera. It's very smart and persuasive to talk about your working experience of working with international students and then bring about the problems they have. Your professional experience definitely add credibility to your concept. For the venture pitch, the content is presented professionally. But I have one question regarding to the 'Buyers' part. As far as we know, almost all the universities and colleges have their own sources and tools of providing services to International students, such as learning programs, learning communities, workshops, advising hours and etc. How could you persuade the partner institutions to pay for the app as a supplementary service for students given that the content (such as journals, articles and etc.) are from the institutions' own databases? Very great job! Thank you!

FEEDBACK: Great elevator pitch Molly. Your elevator pitch was well done - you quickly explained an existing need and how your service would fulfill that need. Your mock displays gave me a good understanding of what your product would be like to use. Only suggestion I would have is to offer a case study example so that investors can understand what it would be like to use the product and how it would fit into someone's daily life. Great job!
