Hi everyone! My name is Scott Lillis and I am the Technology Coach at the International School of Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. I am originally from Kingston, Ontario and have taught previously in Ontario, Kuwait and Thailand.
My wife and I, along with our cats, moved here in August of 2017 and are wrapping up our second year teaching at this small international school of 350 students. My wife Andrea teaches Kindergarten here at the school and we are both completing our Masters’ while living and working abroad – although she is completing hers through Queen’s University. This is my eighth course in the MET program and I just completed ETEC 523 which was also open to the world on WordPress. I will be taking my ninth course this Summer on campus as I was able to get into ETEC 565S: Digital Games, Learning & Pedagogy. I set my alarm to go off in the middle of the night since I logged in a few minutes too late last year and missed out!
We love our jobs teaching internationally – immersing ourselves in new cultures and working with so many diverse and unique students. A major focus for me has been working toward helping students become digital creators instead of consumers and finding fun ways for students to show their learning. I am a huge advocate of allowing students the freedom and opportunity to find their passions and to follow them – no matter what!
I look forward to collaborating and learning with all of you!
Scott
