My name is Silvia Mabel Chu. I am an ABC (Argentinean born Chinese). I grew up in Buenos Aires Argentina and later moved to the US after high-school graduation. I moved back a couple of years ago and have been working as a Mandarin Chinese teacher.
Although I have a background in Studio Arts, I “retired” from graphic design 9 years ago. My passion for teaching began at university. At college I became a Chinese Drill Instructor, teaching others Mandarin. I taught on and off and I finally decided to have teaching as my full-time job. My students range from kids to adults. These days I mainly teach Chinese students who have moved to Argentina. My job is to help them to adapt to their life in Argentina and teach them Spanish.
I had taken MET courses when I was doing the Adult Learning and Global Change program. After finishing it, I decided to go for MET. I hope to improve my skills in designing and preparing content blending tech tools to improve the student’s learning experience and journey.
I love baking. Maybe one day I will be able to open my own pastry shop. These are some of my “master pieces”.
Nice to meet you all.
