Hi Everyone!
My name is Lee and I live in Calgary. This is my 9thclass in the MET program and for the first time I am taking two classes in a semester. So, I’m pretty excited to say that this is going to be my last semester! For my other class, I’ll be taking the summer institute class on Digital gaming at the UBC campus this summer. I’ve not yet been to the UBC campus, so this is looking to be a great way to wrap up the program. I purposefully saved ETEC 522 for the end of my program – as I see it as a great way to think about where and how I can apply some of the things that I’ve learned in the MET program in my career.
Outside of the MET program, I work in IT consulting – helping organizations transform their ways of working. My projects include a mix of some design work (how should they work?), teaching/coaching/mentoring (helping people understand and apply new skills, processes and tools), and introducing new technologies to help people collaborate. Usually there are large groups to work with, short timelines, and quite a bit of attention/focus/pressure to show progress. With these challenges and constraints – I am continuously looking for ways to scale and accelerate learning.
In wrapping up the program – I’m looking forward to having a bit more free time for travel. The picture below is from a couple of summers ago. I took my family to Ireland and we had the chance to spend some time at a castle, including having some fun playing croquet on the castle lawn.
I’m excited and looking forward to meeting everyone and learning together!
Lee.
