Hello everyone,
My name is Danny and I’m currently a grade 2 teacher at a Canadian international school in Hong Kong. This is my tenth year as a teacher and my fourth course overall in this program. It’s also my first MET course after a long hiatus. As a primary teacher, I am especially interested in potential applications of social media in the learning process. I am fortunate to teach in a well-resourced school that embraces and encourages the incorporation of technology. We currently run a 1-to-1 iPad program and employ two full-time ICT specialists who are also trained and experienced teachers.
As I teach in a competitive private school market, my school puts a strong emphasis on staying cutting-edge and current, especially through the use of technology. As such, I am exposed to a dizzying multitude of emerging technological innovations in the classroom. From augmented reality to 3D printing and robotics programming, my school has encouraged staff and students to integrate available technologies as much as possible and to showcase them as a way of promoting our school.
I hope that by taking this course I may gain some insight into the processes that help bring some of these emerging technologies into use in the classroom.
