Yes, I have just joined. Thanks for having me.
I am completing the last requirements for my MEd in the ALGC program. Very much looking forward to this course as it pulls together a number of interests of mine. A little bit about me: I have been a lawyer since 1990. A couple of years ago, I took a gap year (and a bit) and went to Europe to figure out what I’d like to do to bring a little change into my life. Law has been very interesting, but there’s obviously more to life than being in an office working on other peoples’ problems. I have always taught a bit “on the side” and it has been a passion of mine, so I decided to get into it more fully. Since my return I have completed a TESOL diploma, which took 10 months and now the better part of my current degree program. I have recently taught foreign students at a private language school, but have also been teaching in a Masters program at Simon Fraser for 10 years. I have taught professionals of many stripes over the years, mostly relating to business, law, ethics and some other topics like board responsibilities. I also used to do a fair bit of coaching (rowing), which was an education in itself. But mostly I like to learn. And travel, which I guess is largely learning. Technology has always been an interest of mine and I try to encourage attention to it whenever I teach. This is an exciting time for me, I’m looking forward to learning from you. I’m attaching a photo to demonstrate how I have always had an eye for detail.
