A late hello Toronto

By Sydney on May 17, 2019

Hi everyone!

I’ve just switched into this course and so this hello is a bit delayed, but I’m looking forward to the content that will be covered in this course. I have been in the in the field of training and development for 8 years and have a special interest in developing online learning. I am just transitioning into a new job doing instructional design work for a tech company that specializes in ecommerce, so I am looking forward to learning about and using new technologies to deliver training within this environment. This was a big part of why I felt this course would be especially appropriate to take now as I take on a new venture of my own.

I don’t come from a background in education (strategic management & international business) so I have found the MET especially beneficial in learning about formal learning theories and best practices in adult education. This will be my 7th course in the MET program; I’ve just wrapped up an elective course that focused on workplace learning and technology which I feel will lend itself well to the content we will be discussing in this course as well.

I am a Montreal native but have called Toronto home for 10 years, so I guess I’m here to stay. I have a passion for all things creative and DIY which I think is a big part of why I like developing online courses; I love the ability to come up with creative ways to design and deliver content online, and making training fun and engaging for the learners. Our family loves to travel, explore and spend time outside so I am grateful for this spring weather that is finally settling in. Here is a picture from our latest adventure to the Zoo last weekend.

That’s it for me – looking forward to learning with and from you all this term!
