Hi YoonJu. The idea to have online homework help is interesting. You made the pain point clear and I like that it is aimed at saving stress and money for parents and is geared at enabling equal learning opportunities for students in both the private and public school sectors. I also liked the idea that We Care would provide job opportunities for unemployed teachers. Your elevator pitch was well done but here are some suggestions that can possibly improve your venture and pitch: 1) What you pprovide help in all subjects - this was too vague. All subjects seems a bit too vast. Possibly narrow it down. 2) In your goals you state you also want to develop material for teaching. That is an entirely different venture altogether. I would focus on the homework project. 3) I would scratch the f2f centre- focus on schedule a session online – keep it 21st C. Parents don’t want to start driving kids around to do homework, that’s just a regular tutor and there’s no innovation there… 4) Security – when dealing with kids and online communication, security becomes a huge issue. I think it needs to be addressed. Good luck!

Hello YoonJu, you made an excellent platform for your venture pitch. I believe that you have a strong product as students and families may recognize that they would either like the reaching ahead of reinforcement approach. A question I had considering your venture is how teachers would be compensated for their time - through the school or from the student? The reason I ask is that tutoring typically may operate on a cash or direction transactional basis, meaning that there is less hands involved in the process, such as the school going through tax, etc. As well, how could you make the product enticing for teachers to be part of your staff? Although you offer competitive compensation, one-to-one tutoring may seem more lucrative based on the amount that could be charged. Overall, I am convinced that you have a strong direction moving forward. Keep up the great work!

Hi YoonJu, I could definitely tell this is something that you care about and want to develop a solution for. Tutoring is very expensive and it seems as the demand is only getting higher as competition in schools get more fierce. That being said, I felt like this is a venture that exists already in some form and it was not a unique implementation. Getting schools to also pay for tutoring services seems very counter intuitive, since the teachers at the school are the ones that are supposed to be doing the teaching. Something I found that works very well in our school is peer tutoring (more academic students tutoring less academic students) or having high school students volunteer to tutor younger grades. Perhaps your idea could be developed further to help encourage this type of peer tutoring and create a more of a social venture!
