Meet Your Mentor

By sarah mclean on August 2, 2019

When I think back about my educational journey, I can’t help but think of the awesome mentors that I have had along the way- my grade 2 teacher, the undergraduate instructor who took a risk on me being a TA,  my PhD supervisor; really, when it comes down to it, I think we can all pinpoint someone who mentored us to help get us where we are today. Mental health issues on higher education campuses across the country are steadily climbing. Students are facing pressure to perform and are facing uncertainty with their future career prospects.  While having  1:1 mentorship with a  professor would be great, it’s not tenable given today’s large class sizes. Here is where “Meet Your Mentor”  shines. Meet Your Mentor is a social networking platform connecting current students with alumni from their institution; who better to help mentor our students than alumni who have walked in their shoes? Check out my elevator pitch and my venture pitch through the youtube links below. I am happy to receive any constructive feedback,  as I may pursue pitching this idea at my institution.
