Howdy Y’all!

By kendra achonwa on January 6, 2020

Hi everyone, my name is Kendra, it’s nice to meet you!

I grew up in a small, southwestern Ontario city called Guelph, graduated with a BA in communication from the University of Ottawa in 2017, and have traveled, lived and worked aboard in various countries since then.

I am enrolled at UBC in the Intercontinental Masters of Education in Adult Learning and Global Change program. I’m passionate about lifelong learning and technology-based education, and through this course I hope to learn how to integrate more new and existing technology into the classroom.

I’m currently facilitating TESOL lessons online to business professions from around the world, and prior to that I taught EFL in a Japanese university in Tokyo as well as private language institutions in South Korea.

While I was living in Korea I met my now-fiancée who is originally from Houston, Texas. After a complicated and lengthly process, I will be immigrating to the US in less than 2 weeks (although The Great White North will always be home)!

When I’m not working or studying, I’m with my family or friends, cooking, watching the Raptors or doing something outside (in the summer!!!)

Looking forward to studying and working alongside all of you.

Cheers,

Kendra.

Hi Kendra, Nice to meet you! Thanks for sharing your story and experience. I'm in the ALGC program too! I love your photos, it looks like you've had quite the travel experiences. Is it mostly Asia that you have traveled to or are there other places in the world you have been? And where else do want to go? Travelling is a passion of mine so I'm always interested in discussing. Wish you all the best with your move and future!!

Lovely to meet you, Kendra, and seeing your "Howdy Y'all" put a big smile on my face. Best to you in your transition to the states, and let me know if I can connect you with anyone in Texas if that's where you're headed.
