So, I have a lot of good ideas 😉 And one thing I worry about is protecting those good ideas. This is particularly true as I move through the exercise of building out an idea that I hope has genuine potential as a business. But what is stopping Google, for example, from mining my good ideas from the google sheets and docs I am working in? Or what is stopping an associate I confide in from taking that idea and making it their own? I have to say, I actually don’t know. While I have signed my fair share of non-disclosure agreements, I’ve never really created one. And I certainly have never copyrighted of patented anything. Turns out I am not alone. I started to look to the BDC for answers and was pointed toward this Government of Canada page related to Intellectual Property. They actually have free courses related to the topic. I haven’t taken one, but I think I might have to ASAP…..
