Safe2Summit The Micro learning Site

By A.Tenten CEO Safe2Summit on March 26, 2020

Dear Fellow Entrepreneurs, Students, EVA’s, Angels,

With Pleasure I would like to invite you to my Venture Pitch,

Our company SAFE2SUMMIT, was launched last year and promises a very successful future.

Safe2Summit from and for Mountain Enthusiast for Safety, Respect, & Fun!

I understand that this venture is a very “personal” one, though I still think that people who are maybe not into mountains will see the business potential.

I’ll be happy to share my review, reflection, pitfalls and improvements in a couple of days.

I am very keen to hear from you!

Please find here the Elevator Pitch:

Find here our entire Venture Capital Pitch. Presented to you in “traditional PDF” – With our sincere apologies, as the website is currently under construction, we did not want to have any bugs in our Investment venture pitch.

Safe2SummitVenture2020

Stay healthy, Stay Safe, Anouk

5.4.2020

Thank you fellow students for you nice words and inspiring comments and advice for Safe2Summit.

This venture is fake – though I would love it, if I / we could really set this up. I am just a dreamer often, very good in thinking about new concepts, new companies, products (I have started already Bonsight a Resume reader, Mbrace a Sport Bra concept, OnStage a coaching theater, and Safe2Summit..)  … but I am terrible in the execution and pushing things through, as every start up, also I would need a team. A good team is most essential for the success of a start-up. Very often people (maybe myself included) do not dare to take the step from employment to entrepreneurship.

I am also very impulsive and I would need someone with design skills, some one with financial skills, and maybe some one to bring me down to earth 😉

Here is my own review for this Assignment:

This is a super detailed evaluation of an interesting opportunity that it is clear you understand and have a great deal of interest and expertise in. I think the presentation itself is too long and demands more time to get into and evaluate than a potential investor might take based on a cold call. I did not find myself getting excited about the idea from the outset but rather felt a little overwhelmed by all of the material I had to dig into to get to the meat of your idea. When I did get into the material I found this to be a very interesting idea and worthy of further evaluation based on the potential market and novel idea. That said, with some refinement of the idea and improvement in the presentation I could see this a viable product worthy of potential investment.

REVIEW: Anouk, I am very impressed with your concept for Safe2Summit. You demonstrate deep knowledge of the market and the domain that your product seeks to serve, and are adopting the proven “freemium” business model. Your simulated app imagery is very effective. I think your elevator pitch would be stronger if you could include some mention of the MARKETING and product DIFFERENTIATION elements. I love the partnering/sponsorship aspects, your high awareness of global standards and government regulatory bodies, and your plans to align with safety requirements and to leverage public resources that will inform your project. These combine with your clear addressing of the ASK and RETURN aspects to convince me to invest in your venture! Re. your team, I feel it would be more effective to provide brief bios of each member, so we know what kind of expertise and experience each one brings to the endeavour. Also: would you offer different percentages of profits to different levels of investment? I may feel more compelled to get involved if I knew how much of that 55% IRR I might be able to secure for myself! Lastly, you might consider getting involved with Mountain Equipment Co-op for your Canadian market growth (https://www.mec.ca/en/explore/partnerships ). You might also get cross-promotion from conservation and wildlife NGOs if you consider adding crowd-sourced data collection or citizen science features ( https://www.bustle.com/articles/93141-6-citizen-science-apps-that-use-your-phone-to-help-aid-important-research ) into your app. There are so many opportunities for this excellent venture! Well done!

Hi Anouk, Great elevator pitch. I will certainly invest in your pitch. The problem and the solution are clearly stated. I like how your financial proposal and how you present your skills and interest in providing mountain safety courses. From a sales viewpoint, as a potential investor, adding in the elevator pitch an estimate of the number of people that would require the service that Safe2Summit offers would boost the interest to check-in for the venture pitch, which is amazingly presented. I enjoyed reviewing your work.

REVIEW: Thank you, Anouk, for your presentation on Safe2Summit. You have done a fantastic job incorporating so many of the learning technologies we have studied in the course, and I appreciate the way you made those connections and put it all together in this passion project. The idea of the passport and connecting mountaineers with others at their skill level and to minimize risks is key! I also invision the integration of your venture and products with wearables currently on the market. Thank you again!

FEEDBACK: this sounds like a great idea and it sounds like you know the market well which would really convince me to invest. I liked the video (a little long for an elevator pitch - but you get your point across well). The screenshots really show that you've got a great product in the making. For a longer video like this, a little more action/pictures would help keep our attention longer. Good stuff though....sounds like a great company.

Hey Anouk, Great job. I'm an avid hiking and outdoor enthusiast and you totally make a great point why is there not a simple course for mountaineering like there is for diving. I've done my PADI training and I was very thankful for the safety that training provided when diving. The outdoors is big business in Vancouver, especially during the tourest season. I can totally see myself using this the maps feature. As an investor, my issue would be making my money back. At least in Vancouver, most of the big money is made on tourism and I don't see many tourists wanting to do extra work out of choice especially during their holidays. If there was a change in regulation as far as mountaineering and a short course was mandated by the government before anyone could hike. I would invest in a heartbeat. Great product!

Hello Anouk. As an investor I am interested in knowing more about your company and as a potential client this is a service I see myself subscribing too. Is this a real company that you have already launched? You address a genuine pain point and its well priced. As an investor, I might get a little nervous about the real size of your market given that your product is not that expensive. Maybe an idea could be to expand your offering to other adventure sports that may not be related to mountains. Like a suite of product and Safe2Summit would be one of them. You could have a similar offering for diving for example and other adventure sports. This way you are opening your market to many more customers. Very well done, your venture pitch is very well presented.
