I thought I would share this link from Tony Bates (who some of you might know was one of the people that helped establish the MET program) on how to teach online in light of the corona virus. It’s actually fairly “old” in terms of how fast things are currently progressing (original post was 9 March) but I thought it was great to get some advice from someone so knowledgeable in the area.
Tony has been updating the blog a lot more lately, and he has added posts to help guide the K-12 folks who are reaching out to him, so check that out. Also, I reached out to Tony via the blog, and he wrote me a really thoughtful response. Reach out to him, as he is more than happy to connect and help!
I read from Teaching in a Digital Age in 524 and have visited his website to further my reading, but I didn't know any background information about him. Thank you for sharing this fantastic resource, and I'm going to pass it on to others! If my course goes online (still up in the air - I teach a dual credit course to high school seniors, and all stakeholders have yet to make a decision on what to do) I will be sure to use breakout rooms in Zoom, which I admittingly do not know much about having only used it once.
