Feeling Pressured to be Productive at the moment? Don’t be…

By Carla Pretorius on April 1, 2020

Hi All

So on a day where I should have been much more productive than what has really transpired, I received an email from a friend/ colleague with a link to this article. Wow, did I need it! I’m sharing it here not because it necessarily is related to educational technology but because it relates to the very different working environments that most of us are now experiencing. Yes, the article is written for academics (research faculty) mostly but I believe we can all take something from it as we are all in some way based in the education sector.

Written by Aisha S. Ahmad, the author talks about our pressing need to find normalcy in these times and how along with that has come the pressure and scramble to keep up our productivity levels. The message- it’s okay not too right now! This comes from someone with some serious experience in these situations.

Hi Carla, Thank you so much for sharing this article with us. It is a great article with some really solid advice! I had been feeling much the same way and like you I really needed this and it has helped me a lot. I absolutely agree that finding security is the first priority and patience and humility are essential. Take care!

Thank you Carla. Your post found me at a time when I've been thinking about this quite a bit. I suddenly feel so inadequate with all the things I'm trying to balance right now. As an EdTech guy, I never thought I'd detest my laptop and phone so much! Cheers.
