This is a Kickstarter campaign I came across that introduces younger children and students to computer programming/building/electronics. The main focus here is to replicate a Google Home/Amazon Alexa without the any privacy issues. Definitely an interesting introduction to robotics/AI.

Hi Sarah, I am quite intrigued by your idea. I feel like education is shifting towards more open learning, collaboration, and sharing. Your pitch does a great job of encompassing many new curricular outcomes. Your venture pitch was informative, concise, and thorough. I will say however, it was quite difficult to hear your voice in the recordings as the volume seemed quite low! This should be an easy fix. Overall, I think you have a great idea on your hands. Keep up the good work!

Hi Sydney, I believe this is an area that is not discussed enough and would definitely help students decide on the right career path for themselves! I thought your elevator pitch was well put together as it showcased some clear research on the topic. The idea of Workday Reality is extremely important for both high school and post secondary students. Many people are unsure of their career path and many students might go through years of schooling to realize the job is not what they imagined. A program such as this would allow people to experience their chosen field, gain valuable experience, and understand the differences between job training and academic training. I enjoyed watching your venture pitch. You raised some important research and you seem to be able to back your standpoint with confidence. I would be an interested investor. I did feel as though your venture pitch was lengthy (may have exceeded time limit) however, there was a lot of important information to convey. Overall, I was quite impressed with your idea and your presentation. Good work!

Hi Marc, thank you for your unique venture pitch idea. I thought your elevator pitch was very well done and professional in it's delivery. Your venture pitch showed similar characteristics. It was very clean, organized, and easy to follow. From a visual standpoint, I thought your plan showed promising delivery of your content. Your idea is a unique and intriguing idea. I have the same thoughts as I go through my old neighbourhoods and I am sure many people do as well. NeighbourhoodAR seems like a program that can take local community and cultural understanding to the next level. I can definitely see educational applications for a program like this and I was very impressed by your business savvy that you showed in your presentation. Overall, I think you have a good idea and a great delivery method. Your pitch was justified, understandable, and related to me as an EVA, potential investor, and teacher. As for feedback, I would like to learn more about how the technology works and how the enriched media would come to fruition. I envision difficulties when trying to display 'before' pictures and videos of old towns and would instead imagine an influx of text and/or audio. Regardless, your venture pitch was well done and I am looking forward to hearing more about it in the future!

Hi group, Thank you for the interesting look into the possible future of education. It seems as though AI, algorithms, and adaptive outcomes have encapsulated many aspects of our lives. Entertainment, advertising, social media, etc. It seems fitting that education will soon follow suit - whether good or bad! Your group was able to shed light on a very interesting topic! I can certainly see benefits of adaptive learning being able to suit the education of a person to better suit their interests and needs. However, I can also see scenarios where adaptive learning could perhaps shape a persons interests or needs. This nature vs. nurture experience is something that I find very interesting and am curious to see how it will play out in the educational venture world. As new technology, smarter AI, and more connections become available, the adaptive learning of companies and programs will only become stronger. As for your OER, I thought it did a good job of showcasing different personalities and how technology can be catered to each individual. However, I did feel as though there wasn't an accurate representation of myself within the given options. I understand that there are time constraints and that you can't reach everyone! Perhaps this is a good example of where we are with adaptive learning in the current times. There may be minimal adaptations at the moment but as time goes on and the database grows, people will be able to find what suits them the best. Thanks team!

Hi team, I was thoroughly impressed with the amount of detail and effort went into your OER this week. The website itself seemed very polished and professional. You were able to successfully convey the applications and practicality of each AR/VR/MR. As someone who is also interested in immersive education, I still managed to learn a lot of new information. I never put much thought into soft-skill training with VR/AR as hard-skill training is probably more typical (and what I did my Assignment #1 on!). The discussions were thoughtful and well organized. Thank you very much! I am still on the fence whether or not I feel VR/AR is better suited for hard-skills training but I am certainly more open-minded and educated about the idea of soft-skill training.

Hi team, Thank you for your thoughtful and well-designed OER. I enjoyed the fact that you were able to create three different versions of the same lesson. This is a great way to showcase how educators can create resources for people and their various learning specifications. I found the website was easy to follow and allowed me - as the learner - to choose which method best suited me. If I were to provide feedback, I would ask - as mentioned in the discussions - what educators can do to streamline the process of creating personalized content for their students/courses/business, etc. It is amazing to be able to personalize content for each individual. However, this could also create a time consuming endeavour. Any thoughts or suggestions for teachers in a school setting to help alleviate some of this obstacle? Thanks!

Hi Steve, Thank you for your valid comments and concerns. You're right that there can certainly be negative ramifications from improper use of social media. You are also correct in that no one should be 'forced' or 'coerced' into using social media. The entire point of this week's activities is to showcase how social media can be used effectively for educational purposes. Furthermore, to be aware and conscious of one's digital reputation and footprint (something many students know little about). It is important for educators to teach students how to be active digital citizens while also being cognizant of possible ramifications. The world of social media can provide people with influence, information, and connections that would be otherwise impossible. A great example is this course, which is based entirely on a social media platform that is public and accessible to anyone. Everything we post on here can be read by random people so we must encourage proper usage and be aware of what we say. social media is a powerful tool that should be used correctly and positively. One of the best ways an educator can teach a student of proper and appropriate use of social media is to be an active user themselves. As you mentioned, students and younger generations will be using social media regardless of what is learned in schools. Therefore, we - as educators - should feel inclined to demonstrate and showcase proper usage of social media as opposed to simply saying no and disallowing it.

Hi team, I thoroughly enjoyed this week's OER as a gamer myself. GBL can provide students (and teachers) with an entertaining way to learn and work. Congratulations on providing us with many different examples and perspectives of GBL. There are certainly key takeaways I received from your OER and may consider implementing some ideas in my classroom in the near future. I am curious to know if any members of your team have used or currently use GBL in your classrooms? If so, what does it look like and how effective do you find it to be. Regardless, thank you for the informative website!

Hi Digital Textbook team! This OER was a fantastic start to our Opportunity Forecasts. I appreciate the time and effort you all took into making this project so quickly! The activities were great and I really learned a lot from using the Visme program. I am sure that I will be referring back to my digital textbook or even make more someday in the future! I am curious to know if any of you have used Visme or similar programs in your own experience? It seems to me that these digital infographic books are becoming a hot topic in the world of education. I personally see digital textbooks replacing traditional textbooks at all levels of education. Digital textbooks and notebooks are becoming the norm simply because of their remote accessibility, interactivity, and updatable nature. Great work team!
