As an Adult Learning and Global Change (ALGC) student I am a bit out of my lane here, with most ETEC / MET students, but am sure glad to be a part of this adventure we call learning. (FYI: The ALGC cohort is an Intercontinental Masters program that involves 4 partner Universities: UBC, Linkoping, Monash and West Cape–very challenging to collaborate and manage those time zones.) I am joyfully married, reside in the USA and navigating a career transition while volunteering and finishing my degree . I am a lifelong learner and avid explorer intrigued by the nature of today’s learning environment: Diverse, expansive and ready to be explored!
Aloha ~
and happy digital travels!

Bravo Ariane! The technology aspect of your pitch is outstanding. Using the different presentation mediums, especially Touchcast is bold and impressive. The personal face/voice connection is clearly an important feature of any venture pitch. Unfortunately, my connectivity failed so I wasn’t able to view it but your ProDev presentation explained your concept very well. You identified key elements of your venture: Problem, Solution, Market, Value Prop, and Personal Bio. Did I miss the ask/financials? Anyway, Uberflip is also new to me. I love it! Thanks for venturing out of cartoon land (been there, done that) and sharing this presentation format with those of us still exploring new technologies.

Great, Marcia glad to hear it. I've come to understand learning porfolios and learning journals to be a dynamic element to support our Personal Learning Environments. The concept was introduced to me only last year as a foundation for the ALGC program (Adult Learning and Global Change). Thanks to ETEC 522 I have expanded my understanding of the utility of these portfolios. During my research for this project I came across Pathbright. It serves as a polished medium for presenting documents, media, reports, etc, (even A4 overview of course contributions) Here's the link if you are so inclined. http://www.pathbrite.com/#home-top

Connectthis appears to be a viable venture as it offers a mobile solution for creating and maintaining communication between school and home. The mobile platform is particularly appealing as it supports the future of education technology. Your presentation outlined key elements of a successful venture, including: Problem statement, solution, implementation, proposal, and brief bios. I’m a bit unclear about the market/competition for such an APP however. Although I’m not persuaded to invest in Connecthis, I appreciate the effort that went into producing a company web site with individual pages and an embedded elevator pitch for this project-- that’s a lot of work!

Rupi, I’m in! Your pitch was compelling, especially considering the limited presentation capabilities available. (Not to mention the limitations of the student/free software that most of us are trying to employ for the purpose of this project.) I'm inclined to think that a condensed version of the pitch would have a wider appeal though. Think appetizer ;) Anyway, if TalkBoard isn’t a real venture, perhaps it should be. This concept is highly relevant to education technology and appears to be disruptive with respect to current tech devices and market competition. Overall, your presentation was fluid and easy to follow. I particularly enjoyed the graphics you designed to demonstrate the dynamics of TalkBoard. The visuals stayed with me. You addressed key elements of a venture pitch: problem, solution, market, competition, proposal but I didn’t see the person, or team behind the venture to help bolster its credibility. Other than that TalkBoard looks like a good prospect.

Kari you managed your pitch nicely using Prezi (I gave up on that format—not intuitive enough for me ;) It was clear and concise and left me curious about the possibilities of Cloudle’s disruptive capacity in education technology. Your presentation effectively outlined the elements of your venture: the pain point, solution, differentiation, marketing, competition and financials. I appreciated that you identified a profit horizon as well. Certainly, that’s an important consideration for any investor and demonstrates your capacity for business planning/projection as well. I’m not sure whether this is a fictitious or real venture but you’ve captured the possibility and promise of an APP such as Cloudle.

Reflections: My project has taken many shapes over the last several weeks and a ridiculous amount of time. I am new to MET and only recently discovered these presentation tools--not all of which share the same elements, or compatibility I’m finding! (Painful) As a result I ended up creating three pitches each using different formats. I initially choose Animoto (student/free version) as my venture presentation. The product limitations hindered the quality and effectiveness of the pitch, so I switched to another host. There, I was unable to voice-over (tech issue, or upgrade?) SO, I ended up with a last minute PPT to introduce my venture. Not really what I had hoped for and no time to set-up a broadcast to deliver it. I was definitely out of my comfort zone here, but happy to have (mostly) kept my head above water. Thanks for your generous comments and support. Aloha~

Fantastic pitch, Lindsay! I am a fan of the website format, especially with the embedded pitch--it’s clean and cohesive. (Brevity is a critical element and often sacrificed to explanation, or disorganization.) Comment Plus offers a viable solution to the painfully time consuming issue of writing report cards. If this isn’t a real venture, perhaps you should consider it. Overall, your presentation was well organized and well presented. You addressed each of the key considerations for a successful venture: Pain point, Solution, Market differentiation, Challenges, Team Info and Financials. Happy commenting!

Karine, this is the most comprehensive effort that I have seen so far—very impressive. Your venture is well researched, well organized and well presented. You clearly addressed each of the key considerations for a successful venture. You introduced the problem and supported it effectively, identified the solution and demonstrated its efficacy, shared the market plan, reviewed your team competency/qualifications and proposed the deal in a logical manner. I am left with the appreciation that D-Force carries disruptive potential in emerging education technology. Bravo and good luck with your venture!

Mobile Learning is well poised as an emerging technology Benjamin, and you’ve articulated that quite clearly here. As the popularity of hand held devices continue to grow it’s clear that mobile tech is disruptive so this is certainly a viable venture. Your pitch was well researched. You identified the rational (utility) for ML upfront and introduced the marketplace possibilities of ML but the lack of financials pose a concern. (I recognize this mainly because I had a similar issue since my venture was fictitious.) ML is something that I would support … let’s figure out what it will cost ;)

John, your elevator pitch was terrific. It was well organized and well informed. Your enthusiasm and promise for the float as a product and a business was captured here. As a hydrotherapy user, I found myself particularly interested in learning more... you hooked me. )Also, I really loved Bruce but may have been a bit distracted by him—what a beautiful boy!) I recognized the utility of floating either post-study, (a time to absorb and reflect) or pre-examination (a time to relax and refocus) so I think the best niche would be wellness, meditation and rehabilitation. I'm in ;) Overall, you clearly addressed each of the key considerations for a successful venture: Problem, Solution, Market/ Market plan, Value Prop, Proposed deal, Info/ Summary. Good luck with your venture!
