Week 9 Review
By jennypapadakis on July 13, 2014
Great work Week 9! I loved your use of Edmodo! I enjoyed the format – it was interactive and engaging. It was also easy to navigate and very relevant to my own teaching practice. I like how the platform you chose complimented and reflected the topic of social media. We were able to share our […]

Feedback: Hi Monique, This is great idea! I like that it engages both the reading buddy and the reader. I enjoyed watching both your elevator pitch and your venture pitch, but did find the music to be a little bit distracting. I am curious about the cost per student for using Reading Buddy - to me, $250 seemed a little bit on the pricey side. Would parents be absorbing that cost or would it be the school board? I am also confused about the format of this product (maybe I need to go back and watch again) - will it be like an app for a tablet? Or will it be its own device? Or will students use it on the computer? Will it complement a non-digital text? Overall - I think this is a great idea and as a potential investor I would consider investing in this idea! As a teacher, I would also love to have technology like this available to me! Thanks for sharing :)

Feedback: Hi Shane, Thanks for sharing your venture pitch/elevator pitch. You have a good idea here that is definitely relevant for the modern day classroom/teacher/student. A few thoughts: the music in your video was a little too loud and it was difficult to hear your voice over the background sounds. I am wondering how your product is different from the existing blogging platforms out there? Are you re-defining the blog by bringing back the idea of the journal? To me, your idea is good but you need to explain how Visi Journal is different and what the current market is like for this type of product. Thanks so much for sharing!

Review: Sayali, I really enjoyed both your venture pitch and elevator pitch. You have a fantastic idea here, and you present it with passion, sincerity, and enthusiasm. I think your use of animation, text, and video was balanced and made both the elevator pitch and venture pitch that much more interesting and engaging. I really like how you have narrowed your market to English language learners in India specifically, and how Frienglish presents English through an Indian lens. As someone who has tried to learn other languages, I can understand how it is important to connect the learning content to a student's context and experience. If I were a potential investor, I would definitely invest in this project. Great work and thanks for sharing!

Review: Hi Colleen, This is a very interesting idea! I was very moved by your reflection and reasons for choosing to develop the Virtual Angel concept. I can relate to your story on a number of different levels. I think your sincerity and genuine passion for helping people would be just one reason that investors would be interested in your product. As some people have mentioned below, I agree that the symbol of the cross is a little bit misleading as it may suggest to some people that you are marketing this product mainly to Christian investors/buyers. In order to broaden your scope and your market, I would not include any religious imagery. I would also be interested in learning more about what other types of technologies exist to help students with Autism (or people with Autism in general). Identifying these technologies and aids could be a good way of helping potential investors understand what this idea is up against. Also, I wasn't totally clear about how much you were asking investors for - and how much money it would take to develop this product overall. Thank you so much for sharing this idea - I really enjoyed exploring your product and thought your elevator pitch was fantastic. If I were a potential investor, I would consider investing in your idea :)

Review: Hi Riea, Great work on your venture pitch! Some people have already noted the timing of the elevator pitch - it was a great format though! In your venture pitch, I really liked that you included an overview of this venture - that provided me with a concise overview of your project - this could have even been placed at the beginning of your venture pitch to provide investors/readers with a basic overview of your venture and proposal. I also enjoyed reading your reflection (you shouldn't be so hard on yourself - this is a fantastic idea and would really benefit the medial world!) If I were a potential investor, I would definitely consider investing in your idea. Thanks for sharing :)

Feedback: Hi Peter, Thank you for sharing this interesting and innovate product! Robotics is an interesting topic and JIBO is a fascinating idea and product. I enjoyed your elevator pitch, but would agree that the spaceship was a little bit distracting from your message. The website you designed for the venture is fantastic - very professional, informative, and visually appealing. I really like how you provide the four different packages in the "call to investors" section. Your website is comprehensive and really covers all the bases. Thanks so much for sharing :)

Review: Hi Nidal, Great work! I really enjoyed both your elevator pitch and venture pitch. You were concise and outline the beginning of a fantastic idea! This LMS for tablets is relevant to current trends in education - if you haven't yet started the development process, you should! Your presentation looks great, and is very well put together. I also think it's great that you have narrowed your market to the Middle East. Do you have plans to expand into North America/Europe/Asia if this is successful? Also - what does a subscription to KALBOARD include specifically? Overall - I think this a wonderful idea! Great work and thank you for sharing :)

Feedback: Hi Nick, Great work on your venture/elevator pitch! This is a fantastic idea, and so relevant in a growing market of English language learners. I enjoyed watching your elevator pitch is very well done - love the logo. You definitely understand the existing market for this type of product, and provide a great overview of how you will develop this product and how you will expand this product to new markets. I would also be interested in learning how much it will cost users to use English Pathfinder? Could it also be implemented by schools to supplement students' English Language learning? Thanks for sharing your Pitch!

Feedback: Hi Milorad,This is a great idea! I agree with Jonathan that that advertising could present a challenge, but that with the right marketing you could be successful. As an investor, it would be helpful to see a prototype to understand how your product works, and what makes it worth the investment. Although it was interesting, and comprehensive, your venture pitch was on the longer side, I think going forward it would be helpful to keep things more concise and to speak directly to the audience. Overall - this is a great idea, and I wish you the best of luck going forward!!

Feedback: Hi James, you have a great idea here! The narrative you provide in your elevator pitch is something most teachers can relate to. I would definitely find a product like PicShare a useful/valuable classroom tool. I would be interested in learning more about the existing market - what other websites exist with similar services? I also agree that more visuals would have enhanced your pitch. Overall, this is a fantastic idea, and you did a great job of pitching the concept. Thanks for sharing!
