Hi Cassy. Thank you for your note and your suggestion! The financial portion of my project was definitely not my strong suit. I really appreciated your project for the financial break down (I wish I saw yours first, lol). I agree that reading an literacy is so important, and that's why I wanted to create a venture surrounding that. Thanks for commenting!

Hi Cassy, your pain point of education being difficult to juggle schedules and timelines and willingness to share with lack of compensation- really got my attention. I like the idea of integrating STEM more into classrooms, and your venture would help make it a reality. Being an educator with 0 business experience, I really appreciated the numbers side of your venture pitch. I wish that I saw your presentation before doing the numbers side of my own venture because your numbers were pitched beautifully in a very concise and straight forward way! One thing that I would have liked to see more is the explanation of Wonderville and how exactly it would benefit teachers. What are teachers currently doing now vs. after using your product? Examples of how lessons are shared, and when they are shared, how they are used would have painted a nice picture and give a better overview of Wonderville. Overall, excellent pitch! I think that this product is something that can be beneficial to educators.

Hi Brian. From a girl who is NOT a video game player, I was thoroughly impressed with your elevator and venture pitch. Your passion for your product is infectious and you addressed important points- pain point, solution, differentiation, marketing, championship, competition, the ask and the return. I was impressed that you were able to fit so much information in your 1 minute elevator pitch, and 8 minute venture pitch, but sometimes I found it difficult to follow along and had to pause and re-watch. In my other course, ETEC 510, we are currently on a module that discusses video games and learning. Something that has been brought up numerous times is your paint point. The inability of educational games to “hook” students like commercial games do. I actually shared the link to your venture pitch, because I think your product hits the nail on the head for this pain point. That being said, while I believe you have a fantastic product, I would not invest in Steam Education because I personally believe it touches on a growing concern in our culture. Not only videogame addiction, but the number of hours youth already spend on technology screen time. Excellent job with both your elevator pitch and venture pitch. I was thoroughly engaged through the whole presentation, but for personal reasons would not invest in your venture.

Hi Zain! First of all, I really like the name of your company: 3 spheres- wisdom and intelligence leading to knowledge! I found your elevator pitch entertaining. Not having ever worked in a hospital myself, to be honest, I didn’t realize that this was a pain point. I can truly see how your product would benefit both employers and contractors. Like your reflection, I also think that your concept is strong- providing a stable online training solution to hospitals who are struggling in providing mandatory trainings to their external contractors. In a very straight forward way, you addressed all the important points: pain point, solution, differentiation, marketing, championships, competition, the ask, and the return in a very succinct format. That being said, you listed “several companies’ that provide the same kind of solution with deep pockets, but it wasn’t until late in your pitch that you identified them as big name LMS companies. What do these companies offer? Why are you in competition with them? And why should you be the one that I invest in? Overall, I enjoyed your pitches! I think you are onto something! Lots of information with a succinct delivery- great work!

Hi Dana, thank you for taking the time to blog about our Teachback OER. What a fantastic blog. I look forward to reading through more of the sections. To be honest, when we began our OER, I realized that I actually use aspects of teachback already, but didn't connect "teachback" lingo to my practice. Throughout the creation of the OER I was able to connect to specific times that I could incorporate teachback even more than I do already! Hahahah oh good old Peanuts! "Wahhh, wah, wah, wah, wah." I'm glad that you were able to make the connection to parenting as well! Thank you for all of your insightful posts, and contribution to this week's OER.
