Hi Dan, the elevator pitch and venture pitch are both excellent. I am sure parents, educators, administrators and students will all benefit from a paperless, mobile friendly system with crucial product features for their school activity management. I wonder if it will be easier for an existing LMS system to develop this app. or should this be a venture starting from scratch? I assume schools will pay for such App. but it will be good to see an explicit articulation of business model. Overall, excellent work!

Great elevator pitch and venture pitch with an interesting idea! Great job, Gordon. There has been much talks about using open video content for education and this Netlfix Education exactly fill the needs. It is definitely innovative at the same time sensible. I also like the idea of not re-inventing the wheel but create a product based on an exiting platform –Netflix. The role play part was done very well. I wonder if this Netflix Education can develop some features for teachers to share their lesson plan, how they use these videos etc. that will make the teacher subscription model more attractive I suppose.

The use of VR in sports training will absolutely be ground breaking. I remember when I was doing dragon boat training, we hired video production company to short how we performed and posted these videos on youtube so the whole team could watch and reflect together. Using the VR technology will bring the sports training to a different level. The whole pitch is engaging and convincing. At the same time I wonder if Jo, you can provide a rough product demo and show how this works in parallel of physical training. Do players hold their mobile phone while playing basketball? Would be useful for investors to have a clearer view of how this works. In general an ACE idea!

BOLT is definitely an innovative and compelling concept. The future shall and will go towards paperless assessment, which can be saved on cloud server so people can maintain a long-term record of their learning outcome. Claudia, a great job both for elevator pitch and venture pitch! They both articulated very well validity of the concept and how it is compared to alternative approaches. As an investor, seeing part of the product demo further convinces me. It would be even more compelling if we can add in some business analysis such as business model, market analysis, etc.

[Peer comment]: Thank you Christine for presenting to us a well-thought venture pitch. It sounds even more convincing to learn that you yourself will benefit from using this product if it existed. Your pitch coverage is very comprehensive including research about market overview, competition etc. I wonder if it will be even better if (1) you can make the elevator pitch more visible on your website (2) somehow we can see a product demo. Basically great job.

[Peer comments]: This is a great idea not only for teachers in the classroom but also for parents who would like to manage their children’s use of mobile devices more effectively. Even for my MBA program, the lecturers were struggling with the task to monitor what students were doing with their computers in class. I am sure this tool will be appealing for many customers. Gary, thanks for doing a great job in this pitch.

Well done!! Daniel. As the founder of Reality Plus, you clearly articulated the product, designed the product demo and explained the competition, business plan and plan for use of investment. This Reality Plus community concept reminds me of the Scratch Community. As a student of this ETEC522, you have taken the learning about VR and AR to a step further! I truly enjoyed your venture idea and venture pitch!

[Peer comment]: I definitely am going to be a keen customer of Reference Quest. A comprehensive source of when, what and how I do citations is extremely valuable for people in academics including me. The elevator pitch is very engaging. I also learnt about the tool to make animation video (thank you, erin). For this venture to pitch investment, it might be helpful to articulate the business model of Reference Quest (does it plan to have a B2C model or B2B model?) and potential market size and competition.

Rather than providing answers from purchasing organization’s point of view, I would like to answer the question from platform’s side, as that is something I am more familiar with. From what I read and heard, I constantly come up with the notion of compatibility. In a couple of product demo videos they mention how easy it is for the system to import Youtube video or to integrate with other apps. (Canvas network). Also some people mentioned Google Classroom, even though it is not a fully-fledged LMS. However since people are already using it and familiar with it, they are more likely to choose Google Classroom as there is little extra cost and time needed to set things up, to learn how the new system works. This will be especially true when the value of introducing an LMS is less visible. Reading other people’s comments also made me realize how many other aspects people would take into consideration when adopting or changing an LMS. Whether the platform aligns with organization’s vision and culture, whether it accommodates previous system, whether it provides extensive marketing and training. Therefore probably there is no one size fit all LMS for corporate.
