A3 – E-Mining (an e-learning platform for the mining sector)

A3 – E-Mining (an e-learning platform for the mining sector)

By mreinoso on July 31, 2016

Hi everyone, Here is my venture: E-Mining. It is a fictitious company (inspired in a real one), looking for investment at a later stage in the company’s life cycle. PowToon failed on me and crashed every time I wanted to add the audio. So, after hours of frustration, I ended up recording myself. Take a […]

Hello from Vancouver

Hello from Vancouver

By mreinoso on May 12, 2016

Hi everyone, My name is Mariana and this is my 9th MET course. I’m so excited! It’s been a fantastic journey so far. Originally from Chile, I have called Vancouver home for the last 13 years. I work full-time for a company that offers professional development courses for the mining sector, managing the production and […]

Thank you, Michael. My hope is that one day this industry becomes more environmentally aware and training can help with that.

Thank you for your feedback! The idea is to look for a lightweight LMS to make sure content can be accessed from remote locations. Not all LMS work in that scenario. I will take into consideration explaining a bit more about how training in the mining industry works.

7 Aug Posted on Soaring Compass Points

Hi Cole, not being a teacher, I am not familiar with the curriculum in BC (or anywhere in Canada!), but the fact that is a publishing company sounds interesting. You being the primary author for the K-12 spectrum sounds like a lot of work, though! Also, the possible conflict of interest you mention with the Teachers Federation is not to be taken lightly. Those are things that could make an investor think twice about going ahead with this venture. Having said that, if you manage to go beyond that point, it may be fine.

7 Aug Posted on SchoolBook – Social Media and a Virtual Classroom

Hi Jesse, interesting idea! I like the "mobile first" concept, as I think it's the way we are heading to. I also like the idea of having everything in one place. Strong competitors though! I'm not a teacher, but I think this could work well for students at the highschool level.

7 Aug Posted on Framework: An App that Redefines Homework

Hi Aaron, your elevator pitch was very convincing! Your confidence is a really good selling point. Well done! Your venture sounds like a good idea, with the Pokemon Go concept in mind to engage students. As you said, students will need their own smartphones, which could be a drawback... Overall, excellent presentation!

7 Aug Posted on The New and Improved Google Classroom

Hi Chris, this is my second attempt... The first one was ready to go and didn't load. I have to say that I'm a big fan of Google products. We use Google Drive at work to keep track of the different projects. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar at all with Google Classroom, but it looks like it has some nice features, even better with your suggestions. If you would like to widen your audience, I wonder if this could be used for corporate training as well? Your elevator pitch and the venture pitch were informative and easy to follow. Well done!
