To begin with, I would like to explain the choice of the product for my assignment. I believe that photocopying for the whole class is an essential and inevitable part of any teacher’s job. I have always tried to use digital copy of the material I teach and project it or share with the students […]

Hello everyone, My name is Natallia Kuzmich and I am a LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers) instructor. I did an online teaching certificate program and here I […]

Hi Johnny! I loved your work! What a great idea! I have never been interested (and was really bad at school) in math, but I was fascinated by your project. Unlike some of our peers who commented on including yourself into the video, I would have to disagree with them... As a part of my job (I am a LINC Hybrid instructor), I have to do webinars and create instructional videos for my students. To be honest with you, I don't feel comfortable in front of the camera and never even rewatch those webinars or videos of myself. Awesome work overall!

Hi Jennifer! I agree with the rest of our peers! Wow! I strongly believe that games are such an amazing 'enhancement' for learning at any age. You have added a simulation to it which makes your project even more exiting. An excellent job! Well done!

Hi Jiri! Being an ESL instructor and the second language learner myself, I find your idea brilliant! IELTS is definitely a struggle for a lot of English as a Second Language learners. To be honest, quite a number of my friends who are native speakers find it really challenging! With the technological changes in terms of language learning, a lot of tools are available at present. For example, you can easily avoid and eliminate so many mistakes using https://www.grammarly.com! However, I think your idea is more functional and helpful for specific audience of the language learners who need assistance in writing in the first place. I also really enjoyed the presentation of your venture: very visually appealing and clear in structure. Awesome work!

"A picture is worth a thousand words"! It doesn't matter which area of life to apply this saying, it will be true! There is no doubt in a successful application of a picture in a language learning; if it's the first language or second language. The students I am teaching come to Canada (quite often) without any English language skills. How can I help them to learn and integrate? A picture dictionary is their first 'best friend'! They quite often use pics to explain some of their cultural things to me as well! :)

To be honest, I am not sure if I have become as confident as I am now teaching using Moodle without microlearning! When I started teaching LINC Hybrid, I had some idea about Moodle but wasn't overly sure how to do some quizzes and use other Moodle features. Thanks to the mini tutorials created by our college IT team, I filled those gaps without doing a full training (which I definitely didn't need). Another example of using microlearning in my teaching is an assignment to create a mini response (audio/ video) to the task/ problem/ question.

I love Teachback! It's proven and it's working, and I don't really think it will ever be 'old'! I am teaching LINC Hybrid (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) course. It is a settlement program for refugees and newcomers to Canada. Hybrid means a mix or online, classroom and computer lab time. Teachback works amazingly well and builds my students self-esteem and confidence within all the language competences. We are using Moodle and Teachback provides my returning students with a wonderful opportunity to 'teach' their new peers! Yes, it is more about pedagogy, but a good one!

As a final assignment of ETEC 510 (my previous course) our group created a page on LinkedIN (Link Your Way to Canada) for newcomers to Canada. The goal was to use social media to help newcomers and refugees to find employment in Canada. Check it out and let me know what you think, please! https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12200433/
