Week 12 Activity 3- Sentence Starters Infographic

By Caleb on November 29, 2015

In creating my infographic I decided to use Piktochart because it was the most appealing to me from the last activity. I found it generally quite easy to use, although sometimes it was arduous trying to select exactly what I wanted and move it around. One other frustration was trying to input text and […]

Feedback: Definitely seems like a venture that is in line with the current direction of the market. You make some rather broad and exciting claims, I would like to see some more information on the actually use of the product. As far as the pitch goes, it would be good to encourage viewers to invest or direct them to your whole pitch. It ended a little bit like a commercial and seemed like it was a done deal.

Feedback: Great pitch Victoria! You are thorough, knowledgeable, passionate and professional. You really represent yourself well as a first time app creator, and as a pretend EVA I would definitely invest in your company. You solve a real world annoyance by not only making things easier, but also more secure.

Feedback: As an elementary teacher, we use a large number of graphic organizers to help students out. I see this as a very viable product, as it could be a web-based graphic organizer for older students. As an investor I really would have liked to see a mock-up of what the interface looks like, or what a finished color-coded product is like. I was wondering how it would look throughout, and my curiosity was never truly satisfied.

Feedback: Hello Laurie, I think you might be onto a very successful idea here. You clearly outlined the problem and were excited and professional in the pitch. One thing to point out...your video in the pitch was quite shaky, and occasionally made it hard to focus on your words. In the future maybe place the camera on a solid surface and go from there. Great pitch idea!

Feedback: This is an interesting product idea, Cathy. My school district was talking this last week about rolling out something similar and there was a lot of push back from teachers. My questions based on your elevator pitch are: How does this benefit educators and how would it be appealing to them? How do you plan on monetizing the service? Your product seems quite interesting, I just wonder how you will distinguish it from being "another neat classroom idea."

kdurny, I really appreciate the content of your graphic. It definitely is a better way of communicating with learners than a worksheet or couple of paragraphs. Also, great thinking to include the video.

Thanks for the feedback! It's been very helpful. This idea was really birthed out a similar frustrations to Lane. It is frustrating using so much class time to test reading comprehension. It's exiting to receive feedback that I might be onto something, and that this concept truly could be helpful, and possibly even a viable business venture. I would totally agree, that the weakness of the team is something worth highlighting. The next move for this hypothetical app would be to beef of the team with some quality designers and programmers.
