HI Melissa, great venture pitch. I really like your idea of helping the northern communities get on the map! I had not realized that even in Canada, these small communities have been left out of something so ubiquitous as googles maps, something I use every day of my life. Your venture pitch I feel is a little slow paced but is clear and to the point as to what you want and need. I like the figures you have to back up you pitch and I really like the how you can invest any amount of money as something as little as just sharing the pitch with friends. Great work.

Hi Marc, Great venture pitch. Your elevator pitch was to the point and really did grab my attention and this is a must for an elevator pitch. The idea of using modern technology to archive events is nothing new, this is the first time I’ve seen this implementation. The idea of sharing stories as a way to preserve cultural identity seems like a really good use of new technology. Your venture pitch is clear and covers all the requirements of a venture pitch. You have solid statistics and figures to back up you pitch and it is presented neatly to suit your needs. I really like the layout of your pitch and it shows a clear train of thought that can really sway a prospective investor. I would really have loved to see the pitch in a video presentation format.

Hi Sarah, you venture pitch has some great ideas. The idea that we need to keep our kids engaged in order to have the best learning outcome is one that I agree with. It is certainly true that teaching something is one of the best ways to check understanding and make sure you are truly learning something. In terms of the pitch. It is quite well written; it shows some good background as well as being quite entertaining. I feel that you should include more statistics in order to better convince the prospective investor. While you have a good idea of how much money you hope to source, I as a prospective investor would like to know more about how the funds will be distributed and used as well as what kind of return, I will receive on my investment.

Hi there, While social media is not directly the same as mobile learning, mobile technology and social media is completely inseparable. For students, every time they pick up their mobile devices, they pretty much always using social media. In regards to whether it is our duty to to guide our students in regards to social media, we feel that it is definitely our duty to do so and the best way to guide our students is through leading by example. It is not enough to teach our students course content. The social and emotional health of our students, which in most cases is linked to social media, should be a priority of educators. This aspect of our students can impact the school, home and even academic lives of our students making it important for us to do so. Regardless of if you create accounts in the areas where we advise you, you have a digital presence. Our suggestions are an attempt to present yourself in a truthful and positive light. We will definitely look in to improving the flow and formatting. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi there, Thanks for the feedback. It was very insightful. Leaving a digital footprint is inevitable. Regardless of how well we feel we are protecting our data, it is pretty much impossible to protect all of our data unless we are completely off the grid. in regards to text messages being social media, I feel that any sort of presence that can be reflected online would be considered social media. In regards to needing to "pay" to use facebook and the like, you are "paying" every time you login to facebook and other forms of social media. While you do not directly give money to these social media platforms, there are ads in on each page that are monetized by the sites. On top of that, every piece of data you browse or post online can be used by these companies as a form of currency to be gained. Thanks

Thank you for sharing this with us. It touched me how Sooinn Lee created an app to help her son and eventually sharing it with the world. I personally hate Kumon too and don't think that is the way to educate kids. She's very inspiring.

No I would not invest in this venture. This t-shirt is no more than a gimmick. For people that actually knows how AR work, you don’t really need to include the T-shirt. Yes they did mentioned that the app is free and is available on all mobile devices but the t-shirt is quite overpriced. At $29 per shirt on Amazon, I don’t think most kids would want one. Most of these generic event t-shirts are usually sold at less than $10 if not free. I don’t see how kids would be interested in wearing one of these while having their peers look. In fact, it could possibly work with any other normal t-shirt. The video in general is lacking a business aspect. They failed to include if there are competitions out there, how much they have sold already, if the market is international, and so much more details.

Although I would jump at every opportunity to save time, I just cannot see how artificial intelligence assisted grading could be beneficial to me. In my present day teaching, I constantly have to correct misgraded scantrons and look for errors due to the inaccuracy of the machine. There is no way for me to guarantee that AI would not make similar mistakes. The current trend of the education system is moving towards assessing students based on their learning rather than their outcome. With AI assisted grading, I do not believe that it will be able to assess a students’ learning as it does not interact with the students as a teacher would in the day to day. The teacher would be a better judge of a student’s learning as the teacher would be able to adapt to a student’s personality and learning style. There is no amount of information you can input to an AI that would outperform human intelligence in a deeply personal task such as grading for learning.

I work at an all boys school and one thing boys love is competition. I find that boys especially thrive in game based learning because of their competitive nature and this naturally motivates them to learn the material. I try to incorporate games into my lesson plans whenever I have a chance to. I have used jeopardy, board games, and simulation games.I want to find out how gaming on mobile device can be used in my science classroom especially in the field of immersive experience.

12 May Posted on Immersive Experience (VR, AR & MR)

Being a science teacher working under a tight budget, I really want to find out how immersive experience can be done in my classroom. I am interested in using it in a Biology class for all the different dissections and also in a chem lab for all the experiments. This can let students experience learning that would otherwise be left out because we do not have the budget for certain equipment or specimen. In addition, immersive experience could also be beneficial in a STEM classroom. Students have an unlimited amount of resources that they could use where otherwise they might not have access to in the real world.
