Wearable device
By syousuf on August 9, 2014
Hi All, After the intriguing OER by Team 12 on wearable devices, I came across a story that I thought I would share about a 14 year old who invented a wearable device which generates electricity when you walk. Genius kid! 🙂 Click the link below to read the full article. http://themindunleashed.org/2014/08/15-year-old-invents-device-generates-electricity-walk.html

I’m interested in moving to instructional design for online post-secondary distance learning […]

Review: Your venture proposal is well organized and covers all the areas important to a potential investor. You explain the pain points early and very clearly using statistics and demonstrate in detail what differentiates your product from its competition, which is a huge plus for attracting investment! I also really liked how you explained the roles in detail of your company members: content experts, course designers, marketing people, media specialists, knowledge engineers and data analysts. What I would suggest is perhaps including this info in the "who we are" section, or add an "our team" section because as an investor glancing through your proposal, it would help to be able to quickly spot the expertise and credentials of the team to guage the credibility of your company. One question I think that a potential investor might want to know, which is not addressed in your proposal, is if there is certification for your offerings. Other than that your venture proposal is well done!

Review: Your venture pitch covers everything that a potential investor would be looking for: pain points, competitive edge, business model, growth opportunity, market analysis, marketing plan and team credibility! Thank you for such a great presentation. I know now where and how I could improve mine. ;) I think what I really appreciated it is how you demonstrated your research. It shows depth and analysis. For example, your competition and challenges section is so detailed that as a potential investor I feel confident that your business is well thought out. What I also learned from your venture is the strength in presenting past successes. That really attracted me and I think that would hook any potential investor. I loved the look and presentation of your venture pitch as well. I only have one minor suggestion: Within most pages of the deck you have an embedded slideshow. I thought it was synchronized with the audio, but then realized it was not. It made it a little confusing because I was trying to read the slides at the same time as being attentive to the audio. I think perhaps if the audio bar wasn't positioned right underneath the slide show viewers would know its not related to the slide show. Other than that, your presentation was fantastic!! :)

Review: I also reviewed your venture proposal and I thought it was very well written and organized. It clearly demonstrates your unique experience and expertise in the area. My background is in corporate training & development as well so I definitely see a need for training that is adaptive, customizable and leverages educational technologies. I have worked with internal training & development departments for regulatory compliance training and have seen training fail to adequately address different learning preferences and lack educational technologies that can enhance and customize online learning. From an investors perspective I would be interested in investing in your service because you successfully demonstrate that there is a need for your service and there is minimal competition. As an investor I would ask you to present a business model before I make my final decision to invest or not. I would like to know, for example, if your fees would be per user or course, or per month, or annually? And what would your fees be like to support training once its completed for course materials maintenance and maintenance of the online networking platform for users? Once that's laid out, it would be a definite "yes" from me! :)

Feedback: Wow, you did a great job with VideoScribe!! It looks very professional! What I found most interesting about your pitch was that you stated your marketing strategy in detail. If I was an investor this would definitely attract me and I would be interested in learning more about your service. My suggestion would be to slow down your narration and to have some of the subject areas that you would be offering your training in written in text in your presentation. Also, when you state your past experience I would also list your areas of expertise as text (maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, etc.) - it would make the presentation easier to follow. :)

Feedback: Your elevator pitch is visually appealing! And you demonstrate the pain point very well in your presentation. Although, I don't have experience in recruiting, I could see the need for a your solution. However, I think your pitch can be more effective if it provided more specifics on the features of your new online application tool (for example, the different types of media that it would support). It would give a potential investor a better idea of what this product offers.

Feedback: Your elevator pitch was nicely designed and is engaging from the beginning. It clearly states the pain point and the solution, and as an investor I would be interested in your company and learning more. I also liked that there was no narration. It made it easy for me to just focus on the text. However, I found the 2nd last slide a bit text-heavy, and because it moved quite fast I could not read everything before the next slide appeared. My suggestion would be to keep a shorter CEO bio (maybe just keep it to three one-liner points)? Overall it was really good! It doesn't look like you're new to Powtoon at all! :)

Feedback: Chris, what I really liked about your elevator pitch was that your product was very clearly explained which makes it easy to understand even for those not in the education field. I think this is important, particularly if faced with an investor panel that consists of investors who do not have experience in the education field. I think this was one of the clearest pitches I have reviewed so far and as an investor I would be interested in learning more. My only suggestion would be to brighten the video and include some visuals as others have suggested.

Feedback: I liked the visuals you used in your elevator pitch! It must have taken a lot of time to put so many together, but it looked very professional. Well done! I thought the tone of your voice was great - your passion and excitement comes through! I also liked that you established your credentials right from the start. My only suggestion is to discuss some of your competition and how your product is unique. I think this will demonstrate to the investor clearly what direction you want to take the product and why there is such a need for it. Overall, very engaging pitch!

Feedback: Your elevator pitch is well designed! The visuals definitely captured my attention. I would recommend speaking a little slower, but the passion for your product does come through which kept me engaged! However, I would recommend mentioning why it is important for teachers to have this highlighting tool - maybe something that shows (like a stat) that students are not as engaged in online readings. Overall your pitch was great! Also, your product's concept is very interesting and unique!

Feedback: Your elevator pitch was fantastic! Coming from a non-teaching background, I quickly understood the problem you identified and your solution. What caught my attention particularly was how you identified your strengths against the competition quite early in the pitch - great strategy! :) As an investor I would definitely be interested in your product and would be ready to learn more.
