By ttseng on July 18, 2014
Hi Week 10 Group, You did an excellent job with learning analytics. Your website is organized and easy to follow. I really like the checklist on the website, as it outlines exactly what tasks need to be completed. The learning analytics model is very informative, and it helps to make a complex process much easier […]

Week 9 Group, Thank you for a very informative week. Your use of Edmodo was an excellent way to demonstrate how social media could maximize our learning experience. Hi Week 8, Thanks for a great OER on cloud learning! Your website was nice and clean, and it was very easy to navigate through the site. I teach high school math online courses. Unfortunately, it is not easy to type or represent mathematical/scientific equations, expressions and symbols on a website or in a learning management system (LMS). It is difficult for students to complete online quizzes and tests in Moodle or communicate their questions/responses electronically with the teacher and other students. […]

FEEDBACK: Hi Katherine, I really liked how you differentiated your service from those of your competitors in your elevator pitch. You spoke clearly and I could get a clear picture of your product just by listening to the pitch the first time. You also mentioned about how much funding you needed and the timeline for investment - this showed me that the project was carefully planned. The only suggestion I would make is to perhaps talk a little bit more about your company and your management team. This would give the investors a better idea of the direction of your company. Your venture pitch website is clearly organized, and I was really impressed with the story behind ConstructWithUs. Overall, very well done! : ) Tiffany Tseng

FEEDBACK: Hi Laura, Great job with the elevator pitch! You started out with the “need”, and the “how”, and these provided a clear focus on your product right from the beginning. It was good that you outlined the issues with the completion rates of online course - this is a realistic problem faced by many online teachers. The only suggestion would be to perhaps provide more details on what exactly is Course Coach - is it an APP, a platform, and how will it be used? I really liked how you outlined the market opportunitie, market size, and your team members towards the end of the elevator pitch. These are important factors for investors to consider. Overall, great work! : ) Tiffany Tseng

REVIEW: Hi Kendra, Wow! Thank you for the inspiring story, and a very professionally done assignment. First of all, your website is simple, and clearly laid out. I really liked how you highlighted the philosophy and the reason why you started the company. Your spoke clearly in the elevator pitch, and the visuals helped to strengthen your points. You also conveyed a high level of confidence throughout the pitch. It was great that you talked about your team, and mentioned about the districts interested in your service. Your venture pitch was organized into topics, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was narration for each topic. The materials presented on your website were already very good, but the verbal explanations further reinforced the features of your SOOCs. I liked how you started the venture pitch with the problem, and then went on to the solution. It was evident that extensive research had been done. As an EVA, I was especially impressed to see that you had introduced your business model, milestones, growth plan and ‘the ask’ in detail. I would for sure invest in your SOOCs4Learning - it was evident that careful consideration was put into the project, and there is great potential for growth and the actual implementation. Thank you for an excellent venture! Tiffany Tseng

FEEDBACK: Hi Jonathan, I really enjoyed your elevator pitch. You spoke clearly, and the ‘imagine…” scenarios were an excellent way to introduce your product. It might be better if you could describe the ‘device’ in a bit more detail and exactly how it works. I liked how you ended your elevator pitch on a positive note by inviting investors to create the future with iControl. Tiffany Tseng

FEEDBACK: Hi Erin, The visual representations along with the narration in your elevator pitch really helped to highlight the features of your service. I really liked how you introduced yourself as the venture leader, and also mentioned about your past experiences. It might be good if you could speak a little slower to make your points clearer. Your venture pitch was done professionally, and it was evident that you did extensive research for this assignment. I really liked the tables and figures provided in the document. Great job! FEEDBACK: Hi Kuljinder, You started your elevator pitch with a very good hook – “teaching students not as easy as it used to be?”, and I liked how you provided a brief history of the company. I wasn’t very clear as to what exactly is EduJouney, and it would probably be a good idea if you could explain further what EduJourney does. You ended the elevator pitch with the statement - “join our team and help us grow” - which was an excellent conclusion to finish the elevator pitch on a positive note : ) Tiffany Tseng

REVIEW: Hi Karalea, I really enjoyed both of your pitches. Your elevator pitch started out with “being an educator is expensive”, which is a statement that many teachers can relate to. You then provided reasons of why a library catalog app would be useful for teachers. I liked how this app is easy, fast, cheap and saves money. You highlighted the market opportunities and it was very clear that this pitch was created for investors. Your also did a great job on your venture pitch. It was evident that you had done a lot of research by providing facts and figures for your product. Features of the service were showcased and explained clearly. There was also a personal touch throughout the venture pitch as if you were speaking from your own experiences - and this had made it very convincing. You had a clear target audience, goals, and a well laid-out plan. As an EVA, these details have helped me to make the decision to invest in this great service! P.S. I struggled with this assignment too since I don't have a business background. Your effort in this assignment is very encouraging. Thank you for the two great pitches! : ) Tiffany Tseng

FEEDBACK: You spoke clearly and introduced the features of your service very well in the elevator pitch. I really liked the professional development and network idea – especially when this is done on a global scale. One suggestion would be to make eye contact (or look into the camera) to add a more personal touch to the narrative. Thank you for a great pitch! : ) Tiffany Tseng

REVIEW: Hi Danielle, I really enjoyed your venture pitch on Resumedia. First of all, Resumedia is a great name because it combines “resume” and “media”, and conveys clearly what your service provides. Your elevator pitch is clear and attractive. I wasn’t quite sure if there were supposed to be any narration or sounds for the elevator pitch – if not, it might be more effective if there was a verbal presentation along with the slide presentation : ) Your venture pitch was done extremely well. You spoke clearly and the visuals on PowToon further reinforced the features of your product. Your idea of providing a multimedia online application platform is innovative, and you started the venture pitch with the realistic problem of the time and money wasted trying to find the most suitable candidate for a teaching position. You then presented a novel solution to allow school districts to select candidates through your multimedia platform. I have not heard of any similar services and this reduces competition. The features of the platform are very desirable (ex. multimedia support, search function), and it is evident that careful consideration was given when creating this platform. One suggestion would be to provide more info on the company that’s providing this great service. For example, after learning about this great service, I would like to learn more about the company profile, as well as the background/experiences of the management team. These are some factors that investors consider when deciding whether or not to invest in a product. As an EVA, I am very interested in investing in Resumedia. I believe this service would be welcomed by school districts, especially when districts are struggling with time and money. Thank you for the two great pitches! Tiffany Tseng

FEEDBACK: I really liked how you started your elevator pitch with questions. They were a good ‘hook’ that made me interested in the service/produced presented. Many teachers are integrating online resources in their teaching, and the feedback from students regarding particular websites would be valuable for teachers to assess these teaching resources. You ended the elevator pitch with a clear statement of what your product provides – this was a great strategy to strengthen the key feature of the service : ) Tiffany Tseng
