LiveSync – the web browser plugin

By Vibhu Vashisht on November 27, 2016

Hi everyone! I ask for your feedback on LiveSync the web browser plugin: Elevator Pitch: https://youtu.be/miHoW_F3ZiQ Venture Pitch: https://magic.piktochart.com/output/18488951-venture-pitch Reflection: The idea of creating LiveSync came while having lunch with colleagues and discussing how difficult it is to monitor students in synchronous online classes when they are given work to do.  Sometimes students are given […]

Hi Brenda! I will go ahead and modify one of my statements that I do see the value now o multiple screens in that it would allow the teacher to quickly monitor multiple students at once and then click on the 'screen' or student that requires attention and input by the teacher! Thanks again!

Thank you for the kind words Craig! Yes, I think having the multiple screen functionality would be helpful! It is something Brenda had asked about as well and at that time I still felt there was no need of it, but it appears to be something that keeps coming up in this discussion, so it suggests to me that it might be an important feature to have! I see the upside to be able to monitor all students at once and hone in on one or two students who need attention instead of scrolling through one screen at a time for each student individually. Thanks again

2 Dec Posted on A very lively and personal presentation,…

Thank you for the kind words Britt! When I first came up with this idea I felt that there was no need to have multiple screens showing up at the same time from different students on the teacher's computer. But I have been asked this from most of the peers so I feel this functionalty seems important enough to be included in the plugin! And yes, it would definitely help in asynchronous situations as well when the students are working on something during a fixed time slot like you suggested of the independent learning centers. Thanks again!

Hats off to such a creative name of the venture! It is a great idea to help the graduate student community accomplish the task of editing. That being said, the market size appears too small for me to invest in. Perhaps if the program includes grade school students as well, the market could be expanded. All the best!

30 Nov Posted on Trusted Educational Content – VeriTube

VeriTube is an interesting idea for curating YouTube content. The elevator pitch was well done as well. However, I am unable to invest in this venture. Firstly, the reality of the matter is YouTube is often blocked by school divisions, so it might prove difficult for a teacher to use the YouTube video they found on VeriTube. Secondly, there are a number of different websites that offer video based content that aren't necessarily found on YouTube as well, study.com or Edpuzzle come to mind. So the data source for VeriTube would only limited to posting made on YouTube. Good effort!

30 Nov Posted on Mac’s History – Venture Pitch

This is a great effort at creating powerpoint and worksheet lessons in a story format. However I am afraid I am unable to invest in this venture for several reasons. First, there is such high competition for resources that use multimedia to create lessons like study.com for example. Second, there are a lot of powerpoint and worksheet resources already available for free via googling. And thirdly, every teacher's style of teaching is different. These lessons have been created with the way you like to teach, and I am absolutely certain on how well this style works for you. If a teacher buys a package, but then has to update it, the time saved by downloading the package diminishes as the teacher spends time updating to their own liking. That being said, the powerpoints look absolutely amazing and I am certain you had a lot of fun making them.

29 Nov Posted on SAI – Venture Pitch and Elevator Pitch

Both pitches were excellently done with detailed information on the business plan and the future success of the venture. I do have a question on the pricing, whether that is $120/month per student, per teacher, per school etc? My other concern is the amount of time that it would take for the teacher to develop the course using the SAI user interface (UI). I am a developer as well, so we share the immense amount of time that it takes to gather resources and put material together. I'm not sure how well the SAI UI would be compatible with materials and resources that the teacher already has to cut down on the development time. I'd need more clarification on these concerns before choosing to invest in this venture. Great work Joyce!

29 Nov Posted on ClassMaster Gameful Design Platform

I would invest in this venture. There is no doubt on the popularity and rise of game-based learning in schools. The key deciding factor in opting to invest in Classmaster is the ease of using the teaching material already has to 'quests' in the classmaster game. That is a great idea! The business plan was also really well laid out in the venture pitch. The team is also credible. All the best Craig!
