FEEDBACK: I have a huge question: why would someone volunteer to mentor through this program. If I am mistaken, then how do you plan to pay the coaches or mentors that will essentially be teaching the students. The low price point for the student is very attractive but I can’t see how that will pay for qualified coaches. It is a cool idea and an area that will allow for growth through innovation.

I am glad, Jason, you asked this question! While doing research on my topic, I found some Schulich alumni, who are successful entrepreneurs and are currently mentoring students at Schulich... for free. I know many Canadian organizations (ex. TRIEC.ca) that work with mentors and coaches from various industries to help internationally educated professionals build their careers in a new country. Mentors and coaches (well-established professionals) volunteer for the role. I personally had a mentor who I found accidentally online on LinkedIn, who mentored me in my current career, happily and for free. I have been giving back to UofT, where I took a program that helped me tremendously acting as a mentor, for free. I am a mentor for new employees at my current workplace, as per my request, in addition to my regular work duties, and enjoying it tremendously. Mentors/coaches are not only giving, many find they are getting a lot from the relationship. But this is another conversation. Regarding the program I am pitching, I feel some mentors and/or coaches may decide to become investors eventually.
