Hi Jesse. Welcome aboard! Congratulations on entering your final year. It seems that your employment provides a great deal of flexibility and challenge. Your current exploration of BYOD is quite fascinating. In fact, I might suggest that BYOD is very interesting particularly in the elementary setting (I teach Grade 1/2). I learned quite a bit about this topic during my last class and I have to admit that it has lots of merit. Given the financial challenges that school districts are facing (along with other non-financial benefits) I can certainly see BYOD continuing to gain momentum. My school/district has taken the opposite approach with investments in school-purchased devices. Over the past 3-4 years we have invested heavily into a variety of tools, including Smart Boards, classroom laptops, replaced computers in our lab, class set of iPads, etc., etc., etc. Yet, given the ongoing costs of purchasing and maintaining these devices, I am not sure that this is a sustainable model. I would be interested in hearing more about this as it unfolds. Thanks!
