Thanks for the feedback. It was very insightful. Leaving a digital footprint is inevitable. Regardless of how well we feel we are protecting our data, it is pretty much impossible to protect all of our data unless we are completely off the grid. in regards to text messages being social media, I feel that any sort of presence that can be reflected online would be considered social media. In regards to needing to “pay” to use facebook and the like, you are “paying” every time you login to facebook and other forms of social media. While you do not directly give money to these social media platforms, there are ads in on each page that are monetized by the sites. On top of that, every piece of data you browse or post online can be used by these companies as a form of currency to be gained.
